In 1974, I was 18 years old.

Two older guys, Dave and Wally both had crazy muscle cars.

They were both about 30, but tolerated myself and my other teenage friends hanging around their garage while they worked on their cars.

Dave had a 1957 Chevy Corvette, and he somehow squeezed a 427 big block into it.

Wally had a gold 1969 Roadrunner with a 426 hemi in it. Wally gave me a ride in his car one time and nailed it!

I'll never forget how fast this car accelerated, and how scared I was.

But, it was great! :hyper:

I ran with some guys that owned cool cars like that too. My buddy's Aunt owned a Gas Station and we could use the lift to change transmissions, exhaust, tires, etc. I also owned several muscle cars but unfortunately never took any photos! I now have thousands of pix on my iPhone but 3/4's of them are my dog!
Dang I wish I had those cars now.

Great music, great bands, awesome cars...u-hem girls...what a great era to grow up in!

Funny you should mention electric cars...

I saw this car in a Walmart parking lot yesterday - after Googling it, I'm pretty sure it's a Fisker Karma EV. I hadn't heard of that brand before.

Them poops are crazy expensive, like 6 figures. Note the solar panels on the roof.

Hyundai is starting to put similar panels on the Sonata hybrid. You don't get much out of it (I think Hyundai said it's enough to add 2 miles to pure electric range) but it's a good use of the real estate.

I hadn't noticed the solar panels...good eye!:thumbsup:

A long time ago (probably sometime back in the '80s), I had the idea of installing solar panels on the roofs of cars solely for running some kind of air conditioning/venting system to keep cars from getting dangerously hot when parked in direct sunlight for a long time. I had no idea if it was workable, and I didn't try to develop it or anything; it was just an idea.

Living in a very hot, very sunny place makes you get creative about ways to keep cool!

I owned a 2000 Audi A8L for which an option was a solar-panel sunroof that would run the blower to circulate air in the car. Mine had the moon roof though.

Tesla opened up the box. Then the big manufacturer's came in to explore it. Now there are and will be a bunch of new entries hoping to disrupt the market and carve a niche.
Some will survive and thrive . Others will go the way of the Stanley Steamer.
It will be fun to see the different ideas go by.
