I've never had a moving violation, but I came close one night in Pittsburgh, when I was 18. I'd been drinking beers with a group of 4 friends and we went for a ride in my Firebird Formula350. I don't think I was drunk but I was certainly over any sane limit. We went past South Hills Mall on a 45mph 4 lane divided road that had no traffic, just gently rolling hills. This had been all farmland, some houses, so it was quiet. I got the Firebird up to 130mph to show my friends how fast it could go and we passed one car, that was doing the speed limit, like it was in reverse. A few miles later we were approaching a town so I slowed down, sign indicated there was a PA State Police Station ahead. I popped over a hill to a roadblock of PA Troopers, waving me over. Pulled over, and an unmarked PA Trooper in a Dodge with a 440 came screaming up, pulled up behind me. Guess what, it was the car I had passed! So I get out, he gets out, immediately comes over yelling at me. I play dumb easy for me) and the other Troopers open the hood of my car, feel the engine, feel the tires, look at everyone in car, stick their Smokey the Bear hats in the windows (smelling for pot). the lead trooper from the roadblock says "I don't think this is the guy. Tires are cold, engine isn't hot." I had been going so fast when I passed the unmarked, the only thing he knew was the car was red. Saved my ass. Oh, he was so pissed. Followed me for miles on the way home, nothing he could do though.
Speed I passed him, cool night, and slowing down in advance of the town, saved me. And convincing acting.
