Good bass for MeeeTTTTTaaaaaL!

I play metal with a P-Bass with flats.

So does Steve Harris. Personally, I haven't got the cajones to try that yet (the flats part, I would love to score an American Deluxe P for metal). Boomers or Rotos work best for my BCR's.

I would not recommend a Stingray for metal. I'd think a G&L 2000 or 2500 would be the ideal metal bass. Not muddy but really deep, plenty of treble for pick accentuation and it cuts through the mix very well. They sound HUGE.

Also consider Spectors or HH Bongos, both of those basses are known for huge low end and good treble attack. If you want the more growly tone and have cash to spare, a Warwick Thumb is exceptionally good at that, but to get a neckthrough is around 3000$.

+234908 to G&L's. My L2000 is so aggressive with its super hot p'ups that I always use the VLE filter on my LMII. If I played metal, I'd throw it in Active w/ Treble boost, but for worship, I usually do parallel, both p'ups, and passive.

if you're playing metal, get a bass you don't give a **** about. jared of big business plays some cheap fender squire or something, and at the last big biz show i saw he threw the bass into the audience and then into the drumset... _THAT_ is metal!

so yeah, get something cheap... so you can buy three or four and then thrash them on stage because metal audiences love that crap.
