Good non mainstream punk bands?

For me it's usually Philly or Baltimore for a show. So a $20 ticket, tolls, parking, and a few beers adds up to an expensive night. The days of cheap local shows are past it seems. However the one beacon of hope is the American Bar and Grill in Lancaster. They put on a few shows every few weekends for free, plus they have the best wings in town!!!

The Minutemen. Mike Watt was the Entwistle/Squire/Lee of the punk bass. He could hammer away on that little Gibson EB-3.

and they get picked on but Fat Mike (NOFX) shreds bass pretty hard and doesn't play the typical rancid style. Check out the basslines for USA-holes, Showerdays, Suits and Ladders, Herojuana, Desperation's Gone...

In my opinion, the most insane punk bass player is tomek from Satanic Surfers. Check out "Treaty and the Bridge" or "Lost". It's a shame their singers vox are pretty weak and the production quality is garbage.
