Got my GK MB Fusion today!!!!

Yes, an MB Fusion 800 is definitely planned, and GK had a prototype at BP Live. My estimate would be that it's 8-10 months away from the market, but that is merely a guess.

Excellent! I have been running my MB Fusion with a DNA DNS112N and it is outstanding but a tad more power into that single 12 would be just the ticket to get the most out of the DNS112 @ 8ohms. When paired with another cab (other brand 112) and running the cab at 4ohms it absolutely rocks with the Fusion, so much so I will be ordering another DNA 112 in the New Year. The Fusion with the deep switch engaged and that little DNS112N is unreal!

Yea I too loved the deep switch. This was my first GK purchase. I was pleasantly surprised by this amp.

I ended up sending the MbFusion back though believe it or not. I found myself trying to get it to sound like an Ampeg all the time. So naturally thats what im going back to. I love the cab though so i kept that(neo4104ohm). The Mb fusion is a great, great head though dont get me wrong. I was just dialing eq settings back too much, making me realize that its just not the tone i was after. If you love fleas tone though it nails it. All in all this is a very impressive amp.

I think GK is just a tad too aggressive sounding for me. It was very fat, and loud though. It was just too grindy I think. If that was the tone I was after, I wouldn't need another amp ever again. Features were perfect, volume was great, Bass response was incredible, I just couldnt get rid of the gank at high levels though. At least not without massive amounts of contour and serious scooping of the mids. So this is one of those situations where i can say, "its me, not you"

Thumbs up Gk for a great product. I might be back someday. Just not at this juncture.

It's perfectly fine to not like something that doesn't meet your personal voicing needs!
I that was an admirably well done post.

If you're after Ampeg tone, it stands to reason the GK stuff isn't your bag.
I'm not really an Ampeg guy, but a PF500/115 is really nice.

Thanks Chef, In all honesty Ampeg was the first "real" bass amp that I bought when I was alot younger, so I am the most familiar with it. I had the pf500 and liked the tone through the headphones but the pfcab only sounded good at lower levels. The speakers just couldnt handle what i was throwing at them. (C# tuning playing Deftones songs.)

I also loved the headlite that I owned for a couple years, so i may go back to that head at this point too. Honestly I'm kind of lost looking for my tone at this point. I was hoping Gk was the answer, and while it was a great amp it just wasn't what i was looking for.

The headlite was similar to the MbFusion, but with that head, i would just play it completely flat and use the MM side of the aural enhancer and add just a bit. I couldn't get any other tones out of it that I really liked though. I mean, they were useable, but just didnt blow me away like the above setting did. I found that turning the eq knobs, really didnt change the sound in a useable way either.

Ive owned the SVT7pro previously, I sent it back because it was one of the early versions that had the issue with cutting out at moderate volumes. Its supposed to have been fixed but you know how things are when you have a had a bad experience with something. So I am pretty sure that's going to be my next move. /shrug

So im kind of at a weird point in my bass playing existence. I don't think I have ever been so picky about bass tone before, and honestly it kinda scares me!

Sorry to derail, I just wanted others who read my above post know that it was most certainly not the amp that was the issue, but in fact my quest for the perfect tone that ended up being the deciding factor in returning the amp. It still gets a 9/10 in my book as for as amps go. I would have given it a 10, if it had a preamp clip indicator and an on-board compressor. =)

I wasn't there, but, I'll say:
-the mini-ballbat switches for pad and mute are an upgrade, IMO.
-the lit surrounds on switches, and lit knobs make finding things on a dark stage much nicer.
-the GainA/GainB+; then LevelB and Master Volume seems to make gain staging and adjust on the fly easier. Set the "flavor" of A and B the way you like, and then you can adjust overall output of the amp up or down with one Master instead of two. A nice, logical change.
-the light-up clip indicators for input and power amp stages are nice.
