GR Bass review

Well, good news I guess...I haven't been able to replicate the loud pop. Maybe a sticky pot? I'll keep trying but I hope this is the way.

Thanks for the quick response GR!

Today I tried to replicate your problem with my MiniOne. I could only hear a very faint plop ( with gain & master at noon and mid-control at max. which is my practice volume with a loud band).

Edit: It is always funny gigging with this amp, seeing the confused looks when I set it up ("that's your amp!?").

Hello,
Thank you very much for your feedback.
Is it a problem for you? Or you think that it’s can be normal?
I didn’t understand it from your message.
Thanks
I think it's operating ok. Not sure why it did what it did but I will keep an eye, and ear, on it. Could have been something in the switch or just a one-off thing. Standing down from red alert. Sorry for the alarm.

You don’t have to apologize, for any doubt or just to get confirmation you can always write to [email protected]

Sorry Travis but you never mentioned Reverb in your email,

This email:
Hello,
Thank you for the quick reply. I purchased the cabinet from GR Dealer Specialty Traders in Parkersburg, WV USA.

so we thought you tried the cab in the store. In any case as you have been written in the email,

This email:
Hi Travis,
Thanks for your contact. We are talking to our US distributor about your case.
The problem is that you bought your cabinet in a store after trying it, so you saw the type of handles before buying.
But we would like to find a solution to your problem, so I'll get back to you in the next few days!

We will find the solution to solve this situation.
I know this is an old post but I find it preposterous that your position was that it was the customers fault for not spotting a design flaw not the fault of the designer. Interesting take. Good thing car manufacturers don’t have that point of view.

Hello,
I understand your position.
In 2021 we had a distributor in the United States that handled everything, sales and warranty.
He had reported that from the email of the customer seemed to have purchased in the store and then tried the product, although in fact the purchase had taken place online.
However, we wanted to fix the situation and we did it directly from the company.

Ok but whether he handled (pun intended) it or not is irrelevant. The point is that it was a design flaw. This is taking caveat emptor to the next level. I’m glad cooler heads prevailed but the logic is pretty flawed, especially for a new company.

Surely it was a product with problems. That’s why we solved the situation for free to the customer.

Question with focus on AT GR series: what is your experience/recommendation of 212 vs 210? I’m about to order but having difficulty making the decision. I play electric fretted bass and fretless upright in a wide variety of genres. Help? Thx

I only have the NF210V, did not compare to the 212, but it is super loud and it sounds great. The 210 has the same sensitivity as the 212, so with a low wattage amp it should be equaly loud, the only difference being the maximum power rating, making the 212 louder with big amps (800W). For me the 210 is so efficient that I can't think of a situation when I would need more volume, it's amazing.

I think the AT212 Slim is one of their most popular cab. A lot of people probably think they need a 212 just because it's a standard, but if they had tried the 210 maybe they would have realised that it's enough for their need.

Just my opinion.

Thanks so much, I value your thoughts and experience. Also you mentioned you got the NF, and I was consider it as well, can you share your experience and why you went with that over AT? And how does it look? Thx!!

Sure. I was watching the AT line for a long time because I loved the specs, but I didn't like the modern look of carbon fiber… at all. When they announced the NF line, I was completely sold, so I chased them until I could find one. If think the specs are 100% identical to its carbon fiber counterpart.

It looks much darker than the product shots on their website, but it's beautiful. It is brown.
I receive a lot of unsollicited compliments.

I was uppset by this misleading communication on their side, so I kind of harassed them on social media, until the founder replied to me in a very honest way: he confirmed that it's not a colour variation from one product to the other due to the use of a natural component, all products look the same (like mine), but he pretends that it's not intentional, their photos look very different due to the light conditions etc. I don't believe him on that last part, I believe they cheated intentionally, but it's ok. It's his problem if he wants to continue publishing misleading photos.

So if you like the brown color you see on my photos, the product is really beautiful. If you want the a cab that seems to be made of hay like you see on their website, don't buy it.

:rollno: Nobody at GRBass noticed? unless by 'lighting difference' they mean Night and Day

Yeah, I don't get it. My only explanation is that Natural Fiber is made out of linen. Maybe they expected the final product to look like the photos on the website, but it didn't, so rather than admitting the reality, they prefer to show the product the way the wish it would look. I think it's stupid, customer are not blind. Maybe they are still working on the product so that they can finally get the color they want?

GR Bass, if you're reading this: NF is beautiful in brown, people love it the way it is, please show realistic photos on your communication!

I think this is more about cultural difference than anything. In Europe if you buy something from retail shop and you see the product, they won't usually accept reclamation if product is as designed. No matter if customer thinks it is design flaw or not. Now manufacturer is willing to help so all good here. Hope this helps understanding their communication nuances (I would say nice and normal).

I will answer that question again.
The color of the natural fiber cabinets in photography is lighter than the photo in the talkbass post.
I have already explained that our photographer did not do a good job because the photographs are lighter than the color of the case to "normal" light.
As soon as possible we will redo the photos.
But what I keep saying is that the natural fiber cabinet and their grid take different shades of color depending on the light they receive.
It is a feature of the product, depending on the light takes different shades.
You can also see it in our presentation video.

The cabinet is exposed to different types of light both the structure and the grid take different shades of color.

Thx GR, and back to my question, user experiences and ideas of 212 vs 210? Thx as the color thread has been addressed

Hello,
I thought I answered this question by email but I’m probably wrong. Sorry.
I honestly think both cabinets are fine.
They are both suitable for your use, but only you know what kind of sound you are looking for.
Both have power, definition and a warm sound.
It depends on whether you’re looking for a speaker with more attack or more depth.

Thx GR, and back to my question, user experiences and ideas of 212 vs 210? Thx as the color thread has been addressed
