It was made in 1988. The numbers for the SB602 basses that year started with BE102703 and ended with BE103518.

And yes, it was made in Westerly!

Well I was considering selling it, to help with a new (lighter, etc) amp, but that's not happening now! Hometown pedigree... what a small world it is once in a while.

Thanks for the info Flashback, 4Mal. :cool: I think I'll go put those flats on it now, since I've been 'rained-off' of work for the rest of the day. ;)

Now she's back off the block- I've resolved my issue for now, and will deal less dramatically if possible! I'm going to give it a chance to become my bass now. Which may mean it never leaves... we'll look into the nature of this particular creature.

If this isn't her home, she'll be back up for sale.

Yeah, the weight is a real selling point for me. Got shoulder issues, this is great. I'll have to drill holes in back to re-place the strap-buttons so it hangs properly on me, and that's one of the things that was causing me to balk- don't want to go drilling holes in something I won't keep. It's a commitment... and I haven't found a strap jig yet that does what I can do with two new strap-button holes. :bassist:

Plus the color is super-hip in person. Can't quite do it right in a photo.

It's on Ebay, starts tomorrow. Yep, can't have it... I've got loose ends and can't have stuff failing at a gig, got a cab to replace, need stuff. Budget demands... so it's off.

I may just place an ad here, but frankly it's a little embarrassing! Ha... but I'm actually about past embarrassment at my age. Finally...

Yes, Guild aficionados know the "official" dating guides are pretty much useless. All through the history they, like most companies, used serial numbers for accounting purposes, not historical dating. Add in that Guild has gone through so many different owners, factories, and offices, and you have a huge range of errors and incomplete.

I bought my Guild A-50 flat top on December 15, 1995, serial number indicates it's the third A-50 made. The official list says the first one is #5, from January 1996.

And since it has that headstock it's probably an '87 - '89.

The body is lightweight poplar with a maple neck and rosewood fingerboard. I believe they called that color "Electric Blue".

Mine is apparently an '86 with the "foot" style head which is my favorite style. The cake knife is my 2nd favorite style of head for the pilots.
