Guitar Center does it again!

Oh yeah the Stingray is an amazing beast. There was just magic with the jazz in my hands. I’ve come to terms that I’m a passive bass dude. And mostly a P player. This one just had the magic sauce.

I'm finding that I play my passive basses more than my two actives. I haven't touched them in years now.
I'm more than likely going to get the green all rosewood p-bass once they're out in the wild by me.

@Fxpmusic, congrats and please give us your thoughts when you're able!

Will do. I plugged it in last night and it is A beast. The neck feels amazing and the rosewood does a good job at darkening what usually gets me away from jazz basses. I’m thinking about putting some TI flats that I have on another bass at the moment and have it setup. My 2012 am standard P bass (with flats) was louder on the same rig and I feel it may need some pickup height adjustments.

Cedar allergies have been kicking my skull and now gonna teach my son how to skateboard and possibly build a robot... responsibilities... I’ll get more mileage tonight :).

I really like that pink on the jazz. Have not seen a pink P in person but suspect I’d prefer the green P

SXSW gives performers Jansport back packs every year. I have a few and one of the 2018 colors was pink. Which is what I picked. Often I carry cables and a microphone to gigs in that bag. It just hit me I’m gonna be color coordinated and look like I planned that way from now on... should get a pink belt now I guess.

Just roll back the bridge pickup before pulling out a capo + feeler gauges.

I did that then actually. I did het it setup and it bangs! It is slightly tamer than my P in terms of volume but it makes it up in growl.

In that case Google up the starting specs for your bass and set it up.

Tweak to taste.

It takes me a bit to setup my ear from my usual J back to a P. Just spinning knobs doesn't help, I tend to switch amps or preamps to suit whatever I'm holding. I used to cab switch, but that took up way too much room storing stuff I didn't gravitate towards.

I’m pretty happy where it’s at. I only notice when a/b ing my basses. In real life applications, I’m rocking one bass... it’s maybe a dB or two at the most.

Then you are good.
Somehow I got used to really hot overwound pickups via 80's and 90's MIJ J's.
I upped the doseage with Fralin 10% overwounds.

Hard to get your ear back once you get used to edge case pickup winds.
The guys that are into Nordstrand Big Singles, those P bars, ceramic MMs, etc can find that instrument flexibility is a chore.

it's like playing with a Darkglass pedal all the time.
