You're mistaking passion for sarcasm here. I couldn't care any less about GC or their IT systems, definitely not passionate about it. But I can be pretty sarcastic sometimes, and I do get a kick out of ruffling people's feathers who get super huffy about mundane stuff that doesn't have anything to do with playing bass on a bass forum... especially after those people who are experts in everything start being insulting and disrespectful - which you gotta admit tends to happen about 10 times an hour on this forum, about every subject under the sun. And when others insult people who are beneath their "high" level of intelligence, it's just too easy to set those people off. BTW, it wasn't you who I was challenging, and I wasn't even trying to argue forcefully. I guess I'm just decent at articulating thoughts (even when I'm just asking an honest question) and that makes certain people feel uncomfortable or threatened at times. It shouldn't, but it does. I asked a question about why it was so difficult for GC to implement a system that so many other companies already have for years. The replies like yours, that are thought out well, and don't use ad hominem to insult others, I take seriously and will learn something from. The replies that are obviously from keyboard warriors (whether they have knowledge of the subject or not), I can't take seriously. Some of those people actually get offended that some of the rest of us might not know the details of a particular retail inventory system and get ugly about it. That's just strange, but very common here on TB. And to be honest, I think a lot of them are just talking out of their arses.. not all of them, but some. And if they need to get insulting, then yeah, definitely.
I do understand your points and analogies about the aircraft, and they may very well be correct, but I still have to think... is it really "impossible" to at least update their existing software to run faster (software that actually already does what were talking about, just a bit slower than it should)? Maybe they can, maybe they can't. But I believe they are failing to run their business prroperly in so many other ways, this is just another thing to add to the pile. GC will probably eventually go out of biz and that's fine with me. Or they could turn things around and start doing what they need to to stay competitive, and that's fine too. But it's the holier than thou attitudes from some people on this particular site (whether they actually know what they are talking about or not) that suck. Their opinions and statements would come across stronger if they didn't feel they need to call people ignorant to make a point.
