I've always been kinda intrigued by those Peaveys. I like how accessible the upper frets are. I just wish it wasn't a neckthrough. Otherwise I might pull the trigger.

Best way I've found to quickly see if something is mislabeled is to look at the stores inventory. In this case, they just used the wrong pic, as there is a SR4 listed at $999, also with the same pic.

Figures. I'm convinced one day one of us will buy something that's $800 less than it should be due to the average GC employee's incompetence.

Believe me, I've done pretty well in the past, mainly on Peavey basses. They sometimes confuse the top-of-the-line quilted Cirrus' with BXP's, as they look similar. My best score though was my current rig- a Mesa Fathom 2x12 combo for $300, plus $100 shipping. It worked, but cut out occasionally (something they failed to tell me, btw). I replaced the 1/4" plug that connects to the amp with a Speakon plug, and it was good to go.

I bought a LTD B-104 (sp?) for $100 from GC, but like an idiot I returned it a week later. There was nothing wrong with it. It was a solid bass & came with a case. I changed my mind & wanted the Fender Blacktop. I should have kept the case at least.
I can't even find them on the ESP site now.

Sad to say those days are almost completely over. A few years ago I used to snatch up MIJ Squiers for $50-100 all the time.

I think the GC folks are trained to err on the side of caution & put in stupid prices for junk, but rarely put in killer prices for top of the line.

The SB2 MFD pickups are really nice, the P is my favorite P pickup ever!

That appears to be a Tribute model, which isn't much more than that price new. But I played one at the local GC a while back and it was a stellar bass.

I deal with this store every so often, plus... I've got a trade they'll want (I've got better prices from GC with a trade than any other method).

Man! I missed a deal then. The one that was local to me was $299 and included a case. DOH!
Like I said though, they seem amazing for the money. I eventually bought a USA SB2 and it was pretty much the same, tone and feelwise.
