(EDIT) Sorry! Wrong bass! I just bought the Alpine White Jack Casady. It was too good a deal to pass up. Thanks to Gorn Captain for posting it!

I just got off the phone with the Queens, NY Guitar Center store that had the Alpine White Jack Casady, and they say this bass has a straight neck, plays great, has NO visible flaws, and has no "B" or "USED" stamp on the headstock. They're getting it ready to ship to me. I still cannot believe that they priced it at only $319.00 (it's gonna end up being $371.00 after shipping and sales tax). I've wanted a Jack Casady for years, but was never fond of the black or gold version. The silverburst was cool, but by the time I started seriously looking, they were hard to come by. When they came out with the Alpine White a few years ago, I knew I'd have to have one some day. Well, today was MY day! This "Hot Deals" thread is one of the BEST features in all of TalkBass!

It's entirely possible that it's as great as you're hoping it is, but be prepared for disappointment just in case. In most used Casadys I've seen in stores, the impedance switch turns freely with barely discernible clicks. It might be fine though. The price makes me skeptical but who knows.

I bought the Goldtop JC with the neck crack. Turns out that it was a minor finish crack in the heel laminate. In great shape otherwise. Put on a set of Chromes and its good to go. $299 with shipping and tax included.

Congrats, Dluxe....that sounds like a GREAT deal! I was waiting for an Alpine White version. Partly because I just love the looks of the Gretsch White Falcon, but won't be able to afford one in this lifetime!

Has anyone else noticed they started putting "SOLID B" at the end of everything?

I thought maybe it was only for the 5 string models, but the 4 strings have a lot described with a Solid B as well.

Solid B is a corruption of "Solid Body." I think.

Pretty damned weird. When I bought the Jack Casady bass from them, I suspected it meant that the unit was "B" stock (refurbished). I'm glad it's NOT.

Yah they're putting SOLID B in the description of almost everything now, including hollow bodies. Probably because they're really smart.
