I had been thinking about getting a Tony Franklin, then I went a bought a used Pedulla Pentabuzz FL here on TB, and sold a bunch of stuff to finance it. Then this shows up!!!!!! The Pedulla is sweet though.

I've been waffling on this awhile, but I simply don't think I can justify owning another bass, especially something so niche, especially because I'd rather have a 30" SG or Elitist, so someone else should buy it so I stop thinking about it:

I checked this bass out today, and while I DID like the P/J MFD's better than the L2K's buckers... I was really missing a tone control (though the J pup kind of operates as one). L The bass was beat up, I expect some scratches on a five year old bass, but not it being beat to heck on the outside of both horns (clear indication of stage dive).
They couldn't find the HSC, and were not willing to deal at all, not worth it at the price.

Heh, I saw a fire saled MP Dimension (triple bucker) there, under-whelmed with the pup, but oh-SO-comfortable to play (had a Tele-like Jack cup that was falling apart). I picked up the two pup USA Standard Dimension with maple neck, better pups/controls (3), and just as comfortable.

Since I wasn't buying there, I took my trade elsewhere (small local shop), and they had the Squier Deluxe Dimension IV (4 controls) and the MIM version as well. I really could not discern any difference in feel between the basses (other than the Squire weighed a bit less). I preferred the sound of the Squier pup more (the preamp controls seem to have more span on the very low and very high end of the adjustments compared to the MIM pup/controls). It has the same bridge, and 5 bolt angled neck joint as the higher end models... At $100 less than the SB-2 (straight swap plus some store credit for my trade), a cooler red (transparent), and a wider range of sound... I'm pretty happy!

Still the best source for used gear, if you live in the middle of nowhere.

In addition, GC has VERY reasonable shipping costs on most used basses. I don't think I've ever paid more than $23.00-25.00 to get one delivered. Sam Ash averages $60.00 for the same service.
I only paid $28.00 shipping for a huge old-school AMPEG SVT1000 amp from halfway across the country on a GC deal. And, as bdwgml said, the site is way more user friendly in terms of finding what you're looking for.

Funny, no one in the store knew how to operate it. I pulled up the pdf and figured it out.

I was kinda holding out for a pigtronix, but the cost (even used) stops me cold every time.

I used to almost always opt for overnight shipping if I was buying from far away to keep my bass of a truck for a week. It used to be like a $25-$30 difference at most. Now overnight is $60 more from most places on the western side of the country. It can't possibly actually cost that much to ship. It should be less considering how much they ship a day. They must've upped their handling cost quite a bit.
