I have bought only two used basses from GC. They were firm on price. Occasionally, members here report getting some strings thrown in to the deal. Discounts on used gear are not widely reported. Shipping to store is not usually too expensive, and if the bass sucks you can return it on the spot.

Edit: Hmmmm. Now that I look at those though, I would definitely call the store before I bought one. From the pictures it is difficult to tell if some are lined fretless or are fretted, even though they come up as fretless when you hit the radio button in the sidebar...

GC is awful and inconsistent with the employees adding the metadata into their system for online. I've bought quite a few basses from them and scan their website regularly, but it just takes more work as a customer than it should. For example, as @Semi Actuated wrote, there are quite a few basses under "fretless" that aren't fretless, including some vintage Fenders and Rics.

Yeah, I agree. I actually like buying used stuff at Guitar Center, but their website really needs to be upgraded in terms of (as you noted) "adding the metadata into their system for online" (including pictures!), because right now it is wildly inconsistent, and never really very good. It makes it more difficult to search than it needs to be in this day and age.

Heads up returned this bass back due to electrical issues. Knowing GC, they never take the consideration of players and automatically list it back up on their used site. Also take note that this bass no longer have Double Ball strings when I switched them out to single strings. So obviously this is just a copy/paste stock photo from when I originally bought it.

Heads up on a used but "damaged" JMJ / Justin Meldal-Johnsen Mustang Bass just listed at the Gainesville Florida GC used site.

The back of the neck has a gouge in it at about the second fret. The finish and some of the wood is missing (about a centimeter in diameter) with a couple of indentations next to the bare wood spot. Looks like it may have fallen or hit something which damaged the back of the neck. All you can see in the pictures is a slightly lighter colored spot. The gouge is not very deep but certainly prominent. The bass is perfectly playable, although on the heavy side, but the neck damage was a total deal breaker for me. YMMV. I know this is a roadworn model, but I have played a few of these is various stores and never encountered anything like that on the back of the neck.

It popped up on GC's used site in Georgia a few days ago listed at $649 so I grabbed it and had it shipped to my local GC. I took a chance and lost the $21 shipping charges, but hopefully this will help others looking for a JMJ.
