Halftime show wish list ;-)

Rihanna wasn't bad, but the show started with the elevated platforms, then they weren't elevated, then they were again. I was expecting something like Eminem joins in at some point and they do "Love the Way You Lie" just something like that for some variety in the show. It wasn't a bad show, but it seemed to be missing something - almost like some other performer pulled out when it was too late to get someone else so they just doubled up with some more Rihanna. Maybe some dancer variety, I don't know. This was produced by Apple, so money shouldn't have been an object but (to me) it just felt like the ran out of money, someone pulled out of the halftime, or they ran out of time. Something was missing. It was like a good fireworks display that didn't have a grand finale. And while the platforms were cool, you then require the performers to tie in and then they can't move much. Lizzo may have been a good addition.

Keep it simple - one artist, one mic, like Chris Stapleton doing the anthem. The recent half time productions are overblown, over-thought, over-spent, over-produced, etc. Music buried in BS.

I didnt see this year, or the last several, but the year Bruno Mars did it I was very impressed. I had never really heard much of his music but I thought he killed it and I am a fan now as a result of that SB show.

I was thinking exactly this. Bruno Mars killed it.

And then RHCP showed up…:bored:

I know exactly what you mean. I really enjoyed the art direction-- the visual spectacle of the red and white was cool, and the platforms were novel-- but I would have liked just a bit more variation in the music. I guess the idea is to have a non-stop, high energy knockout show... But a ballad sprinkled in somewhere would have helped, I think. Some dynamics, within the parameter of modern R&B dance music.
I loved hearing "Only Girl in the World" and "Diamonds."
