pregnant female flag football then? The news reported that Rihanna was the 2nd most viewed halftime show, the 1st was Katy Perry. I thought it was good the NFL let a pregnant woman perform. I also enjoyed the push for female flag football. I would like to see Rick Rubin produce next year's halftime show. AC/DC with Shania Twain on vocals.
Because they need a spectacle to keep sports fans who don’t give a poopie about music from surfing off to Baywach reruns during halftime to justify charging 7 million a minute for ad space? That was a terrible lip-syc performance by Rhianna.
How about The U.S. Army Concert Band? Or the U.S. Army Jazz Ambassadors?
Or at least a group of humans actually performing live?
Why does it always have to be some mega pop-star?
I don't disagree, but halftime ratings would drop like a rock.Grambling State and Southern U. marching bands. They'll put on a better show without all the rising/falling stages, fireworks, cast of thousands, blah blah blah.
Well, yeah, I think by now everyone knows that professional sports broadcasts only exist as a delivery vehicle for advertisements (some folks admit it and some are in denial); but after all the thread was about a wish list.I don't disagree, but halftime ratings would drop like a rock.
Given how big and fast the players are now, playing both ways would be absolutely brutal. And as much as we're hearing about CTE cases now, I shudder to think about what the aftereffects were for guys in the old days with very limited (or no) protective gear.Well, yeah, I think by now everyone knows that professional sports broadcasts only exist as a delivery vehicle for advertisements (some folks admit it and some are in denial); but after all the thread was about a wish list.
I mean, if it were up to me they'd have 15 max. players on a roster, all playing both offense and defense, no TV timeouts, one-time-only substitutions, and a whole host of other rule changes/reversions, but I realize that the game has largely taken its current form to support TV viewing.
After a dozen years or so, they tended to be punchdrunk like old boxers.Given how big and fast the players are now, playing both ways would be absolutely brutal. Yeah. There are a few players I don’t love but I wouldn’t want them to die. There is actually a league like this. It’s called Pop Warner. The players are a lot smaller, more “regular sized” and they aren’t expected to be gym rats. After a dozen years or so, they tended to be punchdrunk like old boxers.
If they were playing 60 minutes, it MIGHT tend to reduce the use of the giant bruisers in favor of lighter fleeter players who could stand up to 60 minutes of play. Modern safety gear to the max, of course, no matter what.
I don't care for KISS, but they'd put on a helluva show.
It was tried (sort of). The NFL limited their time so much that KISS had to butcher their own song (It didn't help that it was probably pre-recorded or Peter started the song very slowly):
I forgot.
