has anyone pink noised a fEARful?

Im just waiting for the Ampegians to cough up a FR chart for any of their cabs....

Dudes seem to love them, whether they have a chart or not. I loved my fEARfuls long before there was a graph of what I was hearing too. :D

I fully understand people wanting to see them though. Of course, since the designs are FREE (no such thing as not so free), and are fully available without signing up on the forum, etc. Anyone with the tools can take measurements. I don't have an outdoor space to do so, nor do I have a fitting mic, analyzing software, or ruler flat preamp to do so effectively. What would be a great addition to any discussion would be both on axis and off axis measurements in comparison to some traditional bass cabs.

I would guess that soon enough we'll have plenty of documentation as BGM will be releasing an article on these and other cabs of their design ilk. Then we can get the squabbling on fer real.

Once again, the very best way to get the information you're looking for is to go to the source (the fEARful forum) and ask these questions there. It's like having someone standing between you and a gorgeous woman and you're trying to close her on something, but you're not asking the woman, you're asking the person between you and asking THEM to ask her.

By requiring people to register and make an introductory post and wade through the forum to get this information it is being assured that someone cannot get the data without also getting the pitch.

From my point of view that's better than the data not being available at all and worse than the data just being available to whomever is interested.

Not that I really care that much, I was just curious.

Maybe this is another can'o beans but ....

[Invalid or Expired Link Removed]

There is a PILE of info not on the forum, sooooo......

No sign-up, no pitch.

For what its worth FR charts are very specific pieces of information, easily obscured by smoothing, testing method and enclosure conformity. Was there another chart the OP wanted to compare it to? I'd be interested to look as well.

The sign up process is a spam filtering situation. I understand that, seeing that I modded for another bass board for a while and until it was locked down more fully, it was nearly a full time job to keep it to a bare minimum of disruption.

The bulk of the needed info, including the FREE PLANS THAT COST YOU NO DOLLARS AND NEED NO PITCH AND DON'T MAKE YOU PAY ANYTHING TO ANYONE are available without a sign up, along with detailed instructions in many if not all of the aspects of building the cabs are not locked into the message board. There are also a pile of links that take you to a bunch of threads here as well as other sites for info in relation to the build.

The sign up is great for those who want more help and personal attention during their build process, have questions for either the designer, other owners or professional builders. There's also discussion about amps, preamps, live sound, basses, techy-nerdom.

OP,
The thing to keep in mind is that the whole fEARful community started as (and for a large part, continues to be) a bunch of DO-IT-YOURSELF-ers. Very few of us have the necessary means to do a full, no-compromise frequency plot.

If you're too lazy or stubborn to register for a forum dedicated to these cabs, you don't deserve the time and effort others have already spent trying to help you in this thread.

And as others have asked: To what are you going to compare this chart once you get it? The only other plots I've ever seen are for BFM cabs.

I’ve never seen any documented published fearful charts either and it seems Barefaced Speakers are the only ones publishing their “Volume Displacement” figures - oh well, to each their own. I was interested in the fearful charts because of a fearful/PA speaker discussion in another thread. Oh well, I was just more curious too.

A few things (trying to catch up here):

- if you are truly interested in hearing a fearful or taking some measurements, you are welcome to stop on by and check out my 1515/66 as previously noted.
- yes, there are plenty of pink noise charts on the fEARful forum done by different folks. Different iterations of cabs and xovers are available. Much of it is uncalibrated and unsmoothed. Anything below 100 Hz is useless in these types of measurements. Even a high volume manufacturer like Eminence will tell you that about their data.
- Vd specs and sensitivity for fEARful are posted by the speaker manufacturers. Max SPL in on the fearful FAQ. The reason why there has been criticism of other manufacturers (Barefaced excluded) is because they use OEM drivers that cannot be simply researched on a site like Eminence.

Anyways...feel free to PM me or email and we can chat a bit and I'm sure I can answer most if not all your questions. I enjoy talking about this stuff anyways even if there is no sale involved.

cheers,
Don

It takes minutes to sign up and get the email confirmation.
It takes a minute to post saying 'interested!'.
There are no pop ups. No one PMs you welcoming you and asking you for a donation. NADA

No one really even pushes the 'product' (the plans are completely free, the process is 'save as'.) What you hear/see on that forum is 'WOW THESE ARE AWESOME' and 'find one and hear for yourself'. of course, lots of congratulatory 'welcome to the cult, what's your address so we can overnight the underwear...' as well too. But that's a given.

Tell me about it. Being the fEARful underwear fulfillment cult vicar, I have to mail out all the special underwear. Sadly, I have to report that 99.99% is men's underwear and 100% has been sized XL or larger. :(

And for the record, the underwear tends to pinch rather uncomfortably.

Splitting hairs here....

We all know that people pay real money for your information. If you tell someone that they are lazy just because they are unwilling to freely give up thier information should raise some serious red flags with anyone. This IS the internet.

Personally it really doesnt matter to me that much. Im just surprised that all you guys are wondering why someone new just wouldnt trust you. Ya dig??

I just registered. No information was required other than an e-mail address. The whole process took less than a minute.

Thanks for putting an end to that.

Part of it was the delievery too. It just could've been explained better. All good though!
