totally agree about 'just asking questions', and I personally find that the "if I can play devil's advocate for a second" idea is used too often to assert a belief as a question rather than trying to listen.

Once conversation started about lawsuits and legal reactions, etc., I wasn't wanting any stone unturned or crack unfilled

This thread was born from when I asked someone to take apart their old pickups. Lobster found that where we were discussing it. Then this thread happened followed by videos. I'm pretty sure I'm validated, and you're just stirring the pot, trying to discredit me.

It's a single coil. I'll extend my offer to you as well BunchyMutt. Buy my bass if you think it's still a possibility it's not single coil.

My input here has been out of interest in the general topic and with an intention to participate honestly in the discussion. I look forward to following this situation with Fender/Gretsch. Something interesting may come out of it, or it may get buried away. We'll see how it goes!

I believe it's a single coil.

I've never written you were wrong. Our two views aren't mutually exclusive at all. It feels like just because I don't adopt the same view as you I am therefore out to discredit you

Which is it? do you believe it's a single coil or not?

You've put forth two statements:
1) I believe it's a single coil. I do also.
2) The pickup is 100% for sure a single coil. I disagree and I also think it's highly unlikely that it's anything other than a single coil

Ah got it. You seem to believe this is court, and we need to fully litigate this here, and come up with insane ridiculousness like a defense attorney would. Which makes my comment about "fender defenders" a little more on point.

You and @skycruiser can make up whatever nonsense and fairy dust designs you want, but the fact is you can see plainly on lobster's short video that it is a single coil. No company would make an overly expensive pickup that functions the same as a single coil.

Again I extend my offer to both of you, buy my bass. I doubt you will, because both of you know that it's a single coil. Yall are just stirring the pot because you're board and overengineering it.

Occam's Razor. It's a single coil, and the evidence proves 100%.

I'll slow on posting, but those that have no skin in the game and are here just to postulate designs that have never been used (probably for a reason)... please stop. Seriously. We know it's a single coil. Your posting is just disrespectful and pot stirring.

The evidence we need is from other owners of older G2220's to see how far back this goes.
