Hate the new SX headstock?

For me, aesthetics are important. If I think it's ugly, I'm not going to want to be seen playing it. To me, that kind of headstock on a fender style body is a clash of two different design ideals. Aesthetically, it doesn't balance. It is definitely a deal breaker for me. I'd rather spend the extra and get a Squier.

The new headstock isn't going to faulter sales at all. There will always be a new and returning market for the current SX style.

Everyday somebody new hears about Rondo Music, so they are always going to have a fresh take on their styling.

If you don't like the headstock, then don't buy one. Get a Fender or Lakland instead.

While it's still the best $100 bass around, I can't bring myself to play something that I consider Ugly. I wouldn't date a girl I had no attraction to, and I won't be purchasing any basses I find displeasing to look at either.

There are PLENTY of VERY expensive, and well regarded Fender style basses I woudn't be interested in owning either for the exact same reason.

Awkward styling is a BIG BIG turn off for me, and a deal breaker.

There are certain things I'm personaly not willing to put with in a bass at ANY price point. An awkward looking headstock is high on that list. (required IMO)

At this point, I'd probalby just buy another Fender.

Maybe thats the reason I have two of the old SX SJB-62 4+1 5 string necks in my parts collection that have never been used. I think the new stock makes SX basses look cheaper in quality then they really are.......IMO. So i'll probably buy a new SX somewhere down the road and just switch the necks and use the newer neck for firewood kindling.

I actually like it better. What I don't like about my Essex Strat is that the head looks too much like a blatant fender ripoff. Really if you need to have an identical looking headstock, you're trying to have people mix it up with a real fender. Not that big a deal if you dont care.

The other headstock really didn't look like a Fender headstock.

The old headstock design fit together well with the lines of the instrument. Then new one does not in my opinion.

Anyone that would confuse that headstock with a Fender should really consider getting glasses. (required IMO)
