Have you named your bass?

Several of my Double Bass friends have names for their basses (See photo of Ruby and Maybelline)
Has anyone given their Bass Guitars names?..(and why)

I'll play anyway. Rhea and Brie are my two Epi Embassy Special IVs. I contemplated selling one to get a fiver last month but as much as I want a fiver I can't bring myself to sell either. Decision still in progress

Only one. My wife dubbed it... "The Velvet Ho". It's an all-original 1964 burst P that I bought at Chris' in Los Angeles in July 1994 for $1500. It's not real beat, but very-well worn, the golden-brown of nicotine staining on the hardware is the thickest I've ever seen. It ain't the Funk Machine, but of six pre-CBS P's I've owned, it's one of two that I've kept.

I only have two basses. One's full scale and the other is short scale. I call them "the big one" and "the little one" or "the yellow one" and "the black one". Or "the Fender" and "the Gretsch".

I also think of my basses as being male. There's really nothing girly about them.

Maybe that's what did it for me, the voice is too damn deep to be named after a woman.

I think if I had a woman bass name, it would be Big Rhonda or something along those lines.

When I get my Dingwall (one day) it will have 1 of 2 names. Either Sheldon (after Sheldon Dingwall) or Nolly (Periphery who made me want to play bass in the first place)

This is the first time I've seen one of thee threads with people responding with their named basses, rather than "no, that's stupid, why would you name a bass?!?!" A change in the air, perhaps?

I haven't really named them, but sometimes I refer to my black '76 Ibanez P bass, with a white pickguard, as 'the Cow' and my fretless sunburst jazz as 'the Camel'.
