Having BassCliff Gig Report Withdrawals

Sorry I missed the zoom meeting last night, had been looking forward to it.

So things I would have yapped about last night.

The gig was not memorable in the history of gigs, but it was definitely invigorating to play for people again. We were even paid an extra $100 by the owners for a successful day. Love the small town nature of knowing and being friends with all these people. When they were closed we went out of our normal life and got alot of food from them, their pizza is incredible. There are some advantages to small town living.

Had probably our best practice ever on Tues night with our 3 pc, the new female singer has really been working on the cajon playing over all these shutdowns and it shows. Great when something just starts to click.

Then after I got home, I was in the garage at home and the shoulder strap on the gig bag gives way...sent my Squier Musicmaster to the floor with a sickening thud. The sound with that headstock hit the cement? I think I cried a little. There was no visible cracks or damage but it was knocked way the heck out of tune. An emergency appt with my friend the luthier on Wed night, some tweaks and things will be ok. I normally only use the gig bag when I go to practice and not hauling all the PA gear with the bass, for gigs I use hard cases. Out of frustration the gig bag is now resting comfortably in my garbage can!

12 hour day after major issues before we got a temporary fix in place. I ran home to get a couple hours sleep and then we were back in at 1am to put some permanent fixes in place. Now back at 8 am to complete my week. Nowhere near as much fun as a relaxing night at home and a zoom meeting.

And 2 gigs at one of our favorite outdoor spots were just cancelled this AM. Not great news to start the day. Only 4 on the books through August right now.

Hey Chris,

That's great to hear. Congrats on being the first to have a gig since the shutdown. Yay band! :D

In the meantime, the rest of us are still getting together on the Zoom and talking about dive bars, basses, lousy sheet music, and new paint jobs. ;)

Thanks to everybody who stopped by. Sorry we couldn't get @1bassplayinfool connected up properly. Maybe next time. But @Holdsg, @Tony In Philly, @/\/\3phist0, @McG, @dbase, and @ak56 hung out for a while. Great to see you guys! I think @twinjet was going to join us, don't know what happened. Maybe next time, ok Miguel?

Thank you for your indulgence,

BassCliff
Had a last minute thing pop up and couldn't make it in. Definitely looking forward to next time!

Sorry to quote myself but I wanted to let you know that this "show" has been pushed back a week due to the protests around Southern California. Drat. And I was really ready for the rehearsal last night.

Anywho, I just sent out the invitations to our little Zoom GTG for tomorrow night. I'm hoping to see lots of smiling faces! :D

Thank you for your indulgence,

BassCliff

Thanks to Cliff for organizing another fun Zoom meeting last night. It was a fun conversation, met a couple new members Keith and Miguel (didn't get their TB profile names)

After great mental deliberation I was able to finally sleep even knowing that Nate's amp was still in his car! :roflmao:

Yes, my personal OCD universe is a strange place! Carry on everyone.

So when I walk my wife to her Explorer , I’ll get the combo out of mine. I’ll post a pic at lunch so you can sleep calmly lol.

Now that's funny!

So the wife came home for lunch today and like a good house husband I made lunch.

Oh and WI Short Scaler, rest easy lol

I'll make it easy for you, I will meet you guys in SoCal, maybe Grant can set you up and we barbecue a mess of ribs and brisket and have a picinic at the beach, I'll bring the beer.

We'll get Cliff , Chris, Gary and the whole gang over............. Although it would be cool if you could swing it before 2026, you know, rent a an RV for a test run and come down this summer or next. :);)

Excellent idea Scott. Lotsa b-b-q loving TBers around here. I'll be happy to do the beach legwork. :)

Go for it Nate. Actually I did have a friend who rented a few different RVs to help decide which one he and his wife wanted to buy.
