Having BassCliff Gig Report Withdrawals

I'll make it easy for you, I will meet you guys in SoCal, maybe Grant can set you up and we barbecue a mess of ribs and brisket and have a picinic at the beach, I'll bring the beer.

We'll get Cliff , Chris, Gary and the whole gang over............. Although it would be cool if you could swing it before 2026, you know, rent a an RV for a test run and come down this summer or next. :);)
Most likely next summer. I’ve already been booked by the DOD to go to San Diego for literally like 14 hours and then Hawaii for God knows how long.

Hey gang!

Well, yes, it was another enjoyable evening with assorted bass playing friends scattered across the globe.

@1bassplayinfool has already played a couple of gigs. He's got another one tonight. Yes, I'm jealous.

@WI Short Scaler had also played a gig where "all the wrong notes were free". I can't wait to knock the rust off too.

@ak56 is still waiting for his wife to finish her design work on the bass he's refinishing. It's gonna look great!

@nixdad was his happy, jovial, well-informed self. Seems I always learn something from his conversations.

@Kitsapbass may have to spend a couple of weeks in Hawaii to work on one of his projects. Gee, that's too bad. ;)

@McG had a rehearsal last weekend and may go see @1bassplayinfool at his gig tonight. Cool!

@twinjet joined us from Alaska during his walkabout. I was amazed at how much sunlight was left in his day.

@Bassed in NZ joined us for a while in the middle of his work day. I was so glad to hear that the Covid-19 issue is almost gone in his area.

Great stuff guys! Even after we all start gigging again I'd still love for us to get together every chance we get. I always look forward to these meeting. For now we'll plan on Thursday evening next week again. If anyone else would like to join us just drop your email to me in a PM. Thanks!

Thank you for your indulgence,

That would be cool to keep this going as we can. It's been really great to discuss gigs, gear, and our universal jealousy of Cliff's gigs overall. :smug: No one else but other musicians would understand what this loss of band-time means to us!

Just put together our setlist for 6/21, our next gig, and the first with our new female cohort. She has some awesome singing chops it'll just be a little nerve wracking to see how her maiden voyage gigging on the cajon will go. The place is a new BBQ joint so maybe I'll get a food shot to meet Basscliff's basic gig report criteria.

Rock on gentlemen! Great meeting last night! Thanks again for coming up with the idea and organizing it Cliff!

That would be awesome, Scott. BBQ & beer is always in season!

Hello my friends,

I posted a couple of video gig memories to my FB page today and thought I'd share them here too, hope you don't mind. It's been a few years since I shared these performances with the Kelly Rae Band.

Seems like we always opened the night with "When Will I Be Loved", a very fun song. This evening the song that followed was a current song on the charts. It was a pretty fun song but like most top 40 tunes, it didn't stay around very long.

This next bunch of songs have had some staying power except for maybe the first one in this collage. But what a fun band to work with.

Feel free to share your videos too. I always like seeing all you guys play and have fun. Thanks!

Hey Keith!

Wow! That was very cool, very fun, you can really jam! Did @McG make it by to see you guys? If not, it looks like he missed a happening evening. Nice work.

Thanks buddy just dusting off the strings with these guys, and yes there was a good vibe going on. @McG didn't make it, but it would have been nice to see him again.

This was a "pop up" gig out of nowhere... It was nice to get out and play a few tunes with this group.

Bartender said we should call the band the Looters :D we passed...

Cheers

Sorry I couldn't make it by Keith. I planned on it but at the last minute it didn't work out. Let me know next time you're there and I'll make it for sure. :)

From last night

Sounding good! Great song!!

It really is a cool scene at the Harp Inn. I've seen Keith play there a few times and it's always like that. Lots of young Deadheads/jam-band-fans come out to dance. The Harp is a cozy place with a great vibe.

Thanks pal, I'll be signing autographs later in the lobby :D don't forget to visit the merch table...

So like me I saw many others had reasons they couldn't join, were you able to assemble a meeting last night?

I thought about trying to join with my phone and talking while driving home, but opted for safety instead. The large number of deer I saw on the way home made that a wise decision.

But we had a really good practice and feeling much less anxious going into this Sunday's gig. It'll be a first for our new lineup in front of real people. The venue is relatively new and has been doing gangbusters business so that's encouraging. I think once we get through those first couple numbers things will settle in.

I'll do my best to assemble a TB worthy gig report for your perusal!

Enjoy the day, it's Friday after all!
