That was actually my idea, something that I've always thought was the most practical place for controls, especially in a live setting, it's right there and a lot more visual. The original design overall was my idea but Bud added his expertise and luthier's wisdom to come up with something that I think is VERY innovative and special, This is an instrument that I have had in my head for many years and actually Bud and I have been discussing the bass for well over a year, literally hundreds of emails!! This bass is actually one of two from Bud that I hope to have built over the next few months, number two being a top secret until everything is finalized. Thanks for all the great comments on the design, I'm kind of a real artsy fartsy type guy when It comes to design, I'm sure bud has had many headaches dealing with my ideas lol. That top really is amazing and a big thanks to Bud for finding it.

The neck is notched and the headpiece is notched so they fit together perfectly. There are three screws that hold the headpiece on from the end. It will be very secure. Probably not a good photo for showing off the mechanics of the thing, but it'll be bullet proof.

bud, can you post a pic of the back? I would love to see how you're doing the singlecut bolt on.

Thanks,
w.
I did another bass for Mr. Punch like this and it works real well on these wide neck six strings. I wouldn't try it on a five string or less though.
