Hello From Jeff Berlin

Awesome that we have you back.
How about recommending 5 pieces of music for a bass player to learn in 2018.
Peace and long life.
K

When it comes to music, I wouldn't know where to begin when it comes to recommending music to people. I DO know what to recommend when it comes to improving one's playing. I'll share these thoughts shortly.

Welcome Jeff.

Quick question. What is the best bass for metal?

....someone had to do it.

Well, this requires your checking out various basses for you to find out. I will always recommend the Cort Rithimic, but one has to try it out to see if they like it or not. If you are curious about what might be the best bass for metal, I would suggest that you go down to the guitar shop and experiment around.

Greetings! I humbly apologize and intend no insult for not knowing of you or your history. I am a novice player, learning on my own, and I was not familiar with your credentials until I read this thread. So, I searched for you and found some of your online lessons. Thanks for sharing your lessons and insight. I am very happy to have discovered you and I will certainly practice your methods. Very nice to meet you.

By no means should you apologize for not knowing me. In the scheme of things, I might be a dinosaur as compared to the bass players that you listen to. But, I do have a pretty cool thing on bass and will suggest that once my single comes out in February, that you check it out. It is rather insanely bass-heavy and while this comment will hopefully will not be viewed as blatant commercialism, you will learn a lot about me from this one recording. :)

Hi Jeff - So happy to have you back here.

I had a curious question - I watching a great interview between yourself and Rick Beato. You were speaking about now living and working in Nashville. You mentioned that you didn't want to skip ahead of the line and get hired based solely on your name but wanted to be hired based on your session work.

I was curious about you becoming a session player in Nashville. I know that you only own one bass. But if you are working sessions does that now mean you'll be playing PBasses and Jazz basses. Nashville producers are quite particular about what tools session players use. So...are you adding more tools to the stable?

Thanks and again very cool to have you back. John

It is a pleasure to have this new opportunity to chat with people on Talkbass about learning how to play better. Being back in this forum is a marvelous thing. It allows me to share thoughts about learning the bass in ways that I have learned and researched over many years. If learning well is an interest you have, please chime in and say hello.

Best regards to all from Jeff

It is spectacular to hear from you Jeff! I own the Jeff Berlin Markbass amp and dream of attending the Players School of Music. I was in Tampa and even drove out to the old Kapok Tree just to see it. I appreciate you taking the time to post here, thanks!
