I could see why NAMM has become more difficult. Never been, but from photos and vids, seems like a lotta ish going on at NAMM.....!These are nice photos of my chat at NAMM. It has become more and more difficult to consider NAMM a good place to play. So, I had the idea that anyone who wanted a free bass lesson could have it. It seemed that this was a different way to get to know some of the guys that attended the show. In retrospect, it was a positive idea. A couple of the guys wrote me months later saying that our lessons were very positive for them. This reaffirms my view that playing and learning how to play are two different points of regard and seem to benefit people by regarding them as different.

Many thanks to everyone. To answer a couple of questions:
1. I LOVE my Markbass amps and have loved them since the very first instant that I plugged into one The richness of bass tone combining the amp sound with my Rithimic bass was coincidentally the best combination of tone I ever had.
2. Regarding Joe Frazier Rd. 3, as many do, we try to upgrade our playing from what we once played like beforehand. Here's a quick ten seconds of a demo of the song. What makes this especially great for me is that the bass tone is directly from the back of my amp combined with the d.i. from the bass. It is simply a great tone for me.
It is a pleasure to have this new opportunity to chat with people on Talkbass about learning how to play better. Being back in this forum is a marvelous thing. It allows me to share thoughts about learning the bass in ways that I have learned and researched over many years. If learning well is an interest you have, please chime in and say hello.
Best regards to all from Jeff
Welcome back. Maybe this should be in the bassists forum though?
Hi Jeff - So happy to have you back here.
I had a curious question - I watching a great interview between yourself and Rick Beato. You were speaking about now living and working in Nashville. You mentioned that you didn't want to skip ahead of the line and get hired based solely on your name but wanted to be hired based on your session work.
I was curious about you becoming a session player in Nashville. I know that you only own one bass. But if you are working sessions does that now mean you'll be playing PBasses and Jazz basses. Nashville producers are quite particular about what tools session players use. So...are you adding more tools to the stable?
Thanks and again very cool to have you back. John
