Hello From Jeff Berlin

Hey Jeff,

Enjoying your lessons that you have made available.

My question is regarding your equipment. Anyone can walk into a local chain store and play through the MarkBass amp that you use, or something similar. However, those same folks can't go and pull a Cort Rithimic off the peg and play it, much less hardly any other Cort bass, despite them owning one of the biggest guitar factories in the world. I would love to try out a Rithimic, because I don't like buying a bass that I haven't played. Will there be a push in 2018 for Cort (and/or specifically the Rithimic) to be found in shops?

It is a pleasure to have this new opportunity to chat with people on Talkbass about learning how to play better. Being back in this forum is a marvelous thing. It allows me to share thoughts about learning the bass in ways that I have learned and researched over many years. If learning well is an interest you have, please chime in and say hello.

Best regards to all from Jeff
Glad to see you back, looking forward to learning from you.

Hi Jeff. You were a tremendous influence/inspiration to me when I heard you on the album, "One of a Kind", with Bill Bruford and Allan Holdsworth. I also saw you in a NYC music shop clinic many years ago. Needless to say, welcome!

Hello again Jeff,

I find myself with achy hands ( fingers mostly ) this morning and felt compelled to ask; as you've aged has your warm up routine ( if indeed you have one ) and practice routine changed? You play at such a furious rate at times I wonder if that has become more of a struggle as you move ahead in years.

Thanks for stopping by and sharing knowledge with us. It's very much appreciated.

Take care.

Hello Jeff! Just wanted to share a pic of my rig. I’m very pleased with it, as is my band mates. Sounds incredible.

Wow! Welcome back.
Glad to see you here again!

Welcome back, Jeff. Your commentary is very much welcome and even though I do follow you on Facebook and other venues, Talkbass is (in my opinion) the best place for it. Maybe in Bassists though.

Thanks-just got IEMs of my own (not quite as expensive as yours) and wondering about whether wireless makes any sense in my situation.

Hi Jeff, welcome back to the forum. I got into your playing because Geddy Lee said in an interview that you are the best bassist. He's one of my favorite bassists so I had to find out who you were and low and behold, he was correct!

I had a similar epiphany, watching a Billy Sheehan vid where he said something along the lines of, 'you want talented, look at a guy like Jeff Berlin, he blows me away'.

Know him or not, like him or not, he is enormously, and rightfully, well-respected. Welcome back, Jeff, hope to see you around for a long while. And really need to check out a Rithimic, love the look/sound/specs.

Jeff,

Welcome back!
I’ve been listening to Palewell Park and Joe Frazier, and I’m wondering if there are transcriptions of these pieces available. (It would certainly help me flatten the learning curve a little.) Of course I’d be happy to help support such efforts.

Best wishes!
Greg Backstrom
