I think I can see his problem. Too many primary colours on one jacket.
Yes. The color you want is called midnight blue. It's the correct color for a tuxedo as it's actually darker than black under bright lighting.

Take your pick...
Obviously a decent set of shades can make a lot of difference!
Just did some online shopping at JCPenny. Got a vest that was on crazy sale, plus a bunch of dress socks (I have none), a fitted purple shirt, and these shoes... in oxblood.

I can return and/or exchange anything in the JCPenny near me. I like shopping there for Ts and jeans so I'm good, even if I hate everything when I get it.
PS - shopping at JCPenny is fun. They keep prompting you to find more coupons and add them on. I almost got everything for free.
Still have a long way to go, but happy I made a start.
Thanks for the input everyone. Despite the naysayers - I think I came to the perfect place for fashion advice!
While those shoes look nice now, I would spend money on allen edmonds or aldens instead. They are really pricey, but will last a life time if taken care of. No matter how well you take care of cheaper shoes, they don't age well.
