Hey, look at that! I'm a spoiled brat!

Given that he is 18 now, that is pretty normal. My sympathies for you my friend. I hope you can find a job and get the hell out of your house so you can decide what to do and when to do it.

If he had been in school, it would be normal. Most kids stay with their parents through high school (what I did) or college if it's in town. He has just been a lazy ****.

Sounds like your place isn't good for you, and it's time to move on.

If you're getting one meal a day at home, can't afford to feed yourself what you need to survive, you need to go elsewhere. Or try to get a job in fast food or a sandwich shop. Pull in a couple hundred a week saving up to move out. At least then, you can fenagle a free sandwich on the days you work.

pockets full of excuses and too much idle time = pissed off Mom.

I bet dollar to donuts you only applied for jobs you
a) found desirable
b) weren't qualified for.

No one wants to be a janitor...unless they own the business. Catch my drift?

I always thought spoiled kids had everything they needed and wouldn't accept not having things that they wanted and didn't need. I'm pretty sure I need food, but am I wrong about this? How long should I wait for food because I'm apparently not trying to find a job?

Son, I've told you to stop bothering me about this! This is MY TB time!

Get off this thread!

Get a job then. Or go to school.

Or get a job to put you through school. That's what I did. Being a stripper at an bus stop lounge was humiliating, but at the end of the day the sound of all those nickels in my banana hammock were really just the ringing in of my brighter future.

Now that I have a degree I've moved on to become a stripper at club near the airport. And my new costume is a cap and gown.

Anything is possible if you put your mind to it.

You've been living with your mom, unemployed, for TWO YEARS?? And she's STILL FEEDING YOU??
No, I've been unemployed for about six months. I quit my job to help her start a hotdog cart which failed because she refused to sit down with me and plan what we'd sell. I had money saved from my job which I used to help pay the bills until three months ago when I ran out and I started looking for a job.

As to the person who said wash dishes: I washed dishes for a year and a half, my boss told me he'd hire me back any time when I quit. When I tried to get that job back I got no reply.

Ok everyone, right now there around 6.5 million Americans unemployed and a good majority have been looking for 6+ months or more without any luck. So before you just tell the kid to go get a job realize that even McDonalds jobs are hard to come by in some towns, especially for someone who doesn't have job experience.

For those of you who tell him to "Move to a new town"... Little hard to do when you have no money to do it. Same goes for the moving out of his mothers house.

Before you all throw stones look through the otherside of the glass first.

Now to answer the original question:

Unfortunatley you can't change the fact that this is how your mother feels about the situation, and in her defense she shouldn't need to feel any differently about it. You are an adult now, its your turn to provide for yourself.

Considering your situation with the areas employment being 90% at the fort it won't be easy, but apply every where you can for any type of job (even if its picking up poo at the zoo) and hopefully one will bite.

In the mean time, you are obviously a bassist since your on the forums... Use your tallent! Take your bass and an amp and go to a park(keep the volume low) and play some nice bass solo pieces. Leave your guitar case open and hope for the best! Just make sure its not illegal to do that in whatever area you decide.

Hope that helps. Good luck!
