Highest vocals ever??

Are you guys considering falsetto as well as chest voice? Regardless, Stephen Christian on Anberlin has the most range in his upper chest voice out of any male singers, here are a few examples:

2:30 and on

Isn't that falsetto?

I suppose? Maybe? I played with a guy who had a similar range to Dickinson, and it didn't sound like he was going falsetto when we covered "Run to the Hills." I think I tried a catch-all with the falsetto thing with Diamond because his chest voice (I can't remember the technical musical name...) sounds way different than his falsetto, which is something different than the Tenor 1s I've heard elsewhere in metal. I don't know. I don't have that range at all, so I don't know first-hand.

uh, what about all those whiny bands?

Anthony Green of Circa Survive

Coheed and Cambria

stuff like that

wut the f.....coheed...whiny??????? is that a joke because i cant honestly take you seriously if you say that. if by whiny you mean songs that have unreal emotion put into them and have an monsterously epic story behind them, then yea i guess theyre whiny..... wow.... anyways thats my vote, second stage coheed days and shabutie the years of singing like that and smoking has gotten to claudio but neverender was unreal and vocally ive never seen someone do so much in 4 straight nights with very very very few vocal mistakes aside from missing a few words here and there that us(the crowd) wasnt willing to help along with

...ive seen them live and he wasnt able to hit the album notes even closely and ive seen several vids of him not being able to...
Important point people need to remember. ANYTHING can be accomplished in a studio setting. Replicating live is a completely different story. Studio vocals never impress me. Back it up live, then I'll be impressed.

I worked (sound) for a band who covered Steelheart's "Never let you go" and "She's gone." The singer was trained. He said the note in "She's Gone" was higher than in "Never let you go." I forget what it was.

I love any thread where the King get's mentioned (And I'm not talking about Elvis). I saw him live. He sounded great. I love his vocals.

In this order;

1. Mariah Carey-8 octave
2. Minnie Ripperton-7 octave
3. Rachelle Farrell-7 octave
4. Denise Williams-6 octave
5. Kate Bush-6 octave
6. Patti Labelle-4 or 5

Cyndi Lauper has/had a great range. She's a great singer, but I think she didn't get props because of the sideshow aspect of her music.

And let's not forget Christina Ag..Ag..crap I don't know how to spell her last name, but I think y'all know who I mean.

Where did you find the data for these? I have read on a few different occasions that Mariah Carey has a range of ~ 5 octaves. Tim Storms allegedly has a range of 6 and Georgia Brown is the only person that has hit 8 in a verifiable setting (that I am aware of).

i hate to turn this thread rock/screamo/core, but Jag from A Skylit Drive hits the highest notes...

-- hits pretty high here too.

"The All Star Diaries", "reason for broken wings" and "the past the love.." all hit some highs too. he always sings in that high voice. he's so good. haha.
