yea thats where i got the idea hes got some great stuff he is one of the people that made me want to build a bass, along with a whole bunch of people on this site

I thought I saw a bit of that influence... Carl is an interesting guy, by all accounts. I'd like to meet him someday, if I can find the time to make my way over to the other coast...

I ordered a hot rod truss rod and bit from stew mack the other day. also i ordered a emg humbucker. i sill gotta order the carbon fiber rods. but my order should be in this week, im excided.

o and the fretboard is padouk and thats the fretboard in the picture

I haven't use any glue on my truss rod at all and it works just fine.

If you are going to silicone your truss rod, I would do it before gluing on the FB. Silicone takes forever to dry as it is, and with a fingerboard on, I imagine it would take years.

i noticed that silvertone guitar with the missing tuners under the workbench... what's with that?

umm thats my friend guitar that i deftetted and have yet to get some tuners and strings.

Just be careful not to get any silicone anywhere but in the slot. Could make gluing a nightmare.

Awesome, ambitious project! Wish I built my first bass at 15 instead of 33. Good on ya!

i shaped the fretboad with my belt sander and i had an iron I beam in the garage that i de-rusted and used it to true up the edge it worked really good. i plan to glue the neck up next week

Yeah, I know what you mean. I wish I had made something like that in HS woodshop. I made a cutting board. LOL My Mom still has it though.

This is a dryclamp of the body and neck pieces, i plan to glue tonite. the fretboard still needs to be shaped a little to allow for the kind of pickguard deal.


here is the back of the body. making that back slat thing to cover up the neck was allota work it got all screwed up during the clamping process but it turned out alright
