Ha yea thanks. The neck is pertty long and i still am not sure how it will sit on my knee, i can predict laods of neck dive but that doesnt really bother me. As for time after school its almost impossible with the track season. And im startin to feel some pressure cause i have till may 6th to get it done and there is still alot of work.

But there is some good news i routered a half inch roundover on the body, it looks sharp. also i am almost finished with the cutaway on the back and with the 2 different layers in the "neck shim" (i think is the proper terminology) its looking schnazzy. tomarro i am going go rough shape the neck and make the arm contour and hopefully get the fretboard glued on. ill have pics sometime this week.

Ok here is some new stuff. yesterday i carved out the cutaway on the back of the body. i did most of the work with a router and template and now i just have to do some smoothing.

And this is what i did today in class i brought in my own chisles and ahh well not sure what its called its like a woodworking cheese grater on a plastic handle ive used it countless times but still have not figured out the proper name. And of course i brought in my own chisles his chisles look like rusty glue covered jail shanks.

Really, you never had a choice of what to make in woodshop? At my school a chessboard is mandatory for Woods I but in Woods II you can whatever you want as long as you can buy the materials and don't need to have the teacher walk you through each step.

I have that one too but and i also have a longer version with a handle at the end but for conouring i use this one

microplanes cut smoother and easier than surforms, though they're pretty much the same idea, and in fact, you can order a microplane replacement blade to upgrade your stanley surform.

I plan to get one before I carve the neck on my next bass. I used that same stanley "Pocket Plane" surform to carve a lot of the material on the body of the bass I'm building right now, along with the round file surform for the tight bits.

OK! here comes a big post since i havent been on here in a while. Neck taper CHECK. Pickup cavity CHECK. Fretboard glued CHECK. Neck carved CHECK (well pretty much final sanding needs to be done). Headstock back peice glued CHECK. Pickup cover CHECK (sorry no pictures of that yet).

I still need to order some upright strings of the ebay i found some sets that are for 19.99 and thats in my price rance. but my question is that is there any reason y these wouldent work?

side of headstock. i glued on another piece to the back for thickness because i needed it to make the style i wanted which is kinda like an upright. i love my 2 wishbass headstocks but i want mine to have a thinner profile and maybe a scroll... (still debating)

this is the front of the headstock. if u look closely you can see some circles where i am going to drill to kinda give u an idea of what im planning.

this is the string holes i made one hole in the wrong spot so im gonna make a dowel to to plug it unless anyone has any better ideas to help me out. and the holes are drilled on 45 degree angles cause i dont want to rist the strings getting excessive wear cause of a straight 90 degree angle plus it looks cooler where they come out.
