History Channel - Vikings

It also appears that this season is a double order with 20 episodes instead of ten. First 10 airing early this year, and the last 10 airing later (I assume fall) of this year.

In my opinion, I think this is going to ruin the show.
I don't like the soap opera angles developing each week on the show. It seems no longer about who is going to conquer what, but who is going to sleep with who. But hey, now they need material for 20 episodes.
I've been a fan of this show since the first episode, so I plan to hang around for a few more, but it is losing me each week.

Episode three was another thumbs down in my opinion. Watching Bjorn get drunk, then the axe in the head of the bear? Yeah, I didn't care for any of that one bit.
Did anyone really think Ragnar was going to do anything with that axe besides free Floki when he went marching out the door with it?
The return of Athelstan? Come on really? Let it go, move on. I wonder if the writers/producers regret killing him after all, so time to work him back into the show as a spirit person.
Rollo and Count Odo buddying up when we already have the story line developing to get rid of Odo?
Rollo's wife hates him, we get it.

Episode four ended promising, with the arrival of Harald Finehair to Kattegat and his ambitions. Episode five started promising with the arrival of Harald's brother, then for me it stalled out.
Ragnar getting high with the Asian slave girl, the sexual escapades of Wessex, and the love triangle in Paris just doesn't interest me.
Mercia and Kwenthrith could be dropped from the storyline tomorrow and I'd be fine with that.
Listening to Ragnar talk about how he has no ambitions or desire to raid any longer was either true or him tricking Yidu. Maybe he suspects her as a spy and is luring her into complacency.
I'm wondering if Yidu is a spy for Wessex or Paris. She is really ambitious with her desire to have Ragnar trust her.

I think Auslag is setting up her takeover of Kattegat as promised by the Seer with her getting comfortable with Floki and Harald. I think she has designs on using that alliance to kill Ragnar.
Still, I don't see Floki being disloyal to Ragnar again.

I think Ragnar is up to something a little deeper than what we may expect. I also think Rollo is going to come out on top in this season. One has to wonder if this will all lead to the "Great Heathen Army", and eventually the 1066 invasion by Rollo's decedent William the Conquer? At the end of the day Ragnar's sons fail, were Rollo's decedent succeeds in retaining power in France, and taking over England. Of course in real history Rollo and Ragnar were not related but in this series in makes a great story.

Hi Mike!!

I almost forgot about these cool discussions about Vikings! I moved to New Mexico and have crappy internet connection so I just caught up on all the new episodes. I agree about Athlestan they need to let him go!!! Him coming back from the dead is just plain weird. Although his return may have had something to do with why Ragnar decided to let Floki go.

But having said that, it seems to me Ragnar was just sitting on the fact that Floki killed Athlestan because he was pissed when Bjorn forced his hand by exposing the murder. I am dying to know what Bjorn will do to Erlander now that he knows he sent the Berserker. AND I LOVE that Lagertha made good on her promise to kill Kalf. Erlander must have almost pissed himself when that happened. I wondered at first if, although we never saw Bjorn speak with her about the experiences he had, if he did tell her he suspected Erlander and Kalf, but no, it was just her making good on her promise of killing him for taking her Earldom. I have to wonder, why we didn't get to see him telling his parents about killing the bear...or about anything that happened to him out there.

They have changed things, but I am still hooked!! I do not like the Chinese chick, what is her angle by giving Ragnar hallucinogenic plants I wonder? Not good to go into battle in that condition.

Rollo is an ass! And his ugly wife too! Yuck I don't like her. I know he won't die, if they follow history and we are seeing the demise of Ragnar slowly. :(
All good things pass I guess.

I think the asian chick is Aslaugs spy, or atleast she is getting him high to weaken him so Aslaug can gain power. Seems to me Ragnar and his wife pretty much despise each other now!

Tonight's show was brutal, and things are working against Ragnars camp. The French and the English both are getting upper hands on the Vikings. The French by force, the English by politics.

And his ugly wife too! Yuck I don't like her.

This has had me smiling for a week. She looks a little better with the new hairdo though.

This "drug" that Ragnar is hooked on- is that why it looks like he's been drinking cherry Koolaid or has bleeding gums? And I'm really lost when it comes to the freaky cowgirl scene with the wanderer/Floki/queen. Too cerebral for this lower-thinking primate.

That sex scene with Aslaug/Harbard/Floki was intense, and went on longer than I felt comfortable. But hey, when you drag a season out to 20 episodes, this is the kind of filler to keep some viewers attracted I suppose.
Ragnar is in a bad spot. He is no longer trusted as a leader, and as @TUEP mentioned England and France are now ready for him.
Still, I think he has something up his sleeve to get at Rollo.
In a preview of the season, there is a scene where the two come face to face, fighting in what looks like one of those towers, and Ragnar yells about how one of them will die today. Rollo replies it is not going to be him.

Rollo looked conflicted to me during the attack. I'm holding out hope he reunites with his Viking family.

I like the scene of Ragnar saving Floki. I had hopes that relationship would be resurrected.

Ecbert and Wessex, meh. That can all go away for all I care.
