Hobbies that cost more than playing bass

My Jeep hobby gets pretty expensive. First you buy the stock Jeep, then it seems like you are never done modifying it. Every time I take it off road, a part gets smashed or falls off and needs replaced.

Thanks... The Fisher 500B is all tube and the Marantz 2275 is transistor. I also have a mint McIntosh MA-6100. The Fisher is my favorite...

My Air Force father turned his career into a rather expensive hobby. He builds vintage biplanes from parts (he has one finished and two in pieces right now). Not sure what the exact figures are, but some pretty small parts (clocks etc.) cost more than $100. Can't imagine what a whole plane would cost.

I spend lots more on my guitar hobby than I do my bass hobby. I've got a Precision, a Jazz and a Ric bass which coveres all my basses. / I have 28 guitars because they all do something different very different.

I have a combo bass amp (Fender TV Bassman 15) for small gigs and home and a head and cab for larger gigs (Fender Bassman 100T + 2 410's) which covers all my needs. / I have 12 guitar amps for different scenario's.

I have 12 bass pedals which meets the needs of any scenario I've ever come across. / I have over 40 guitar pedals because when something new comes out - you just gotta have it!!!

So yea, the guitar gig is MUCH worse than the bass gig!!!

My scuba diving cost me about $6k on year one, and nearly $5k already this year.

Also to include is aviation ($10k or more for license alone), anything to do with horses, photography, shooting, golf, auto racing, motorcycle racing, etc.

and sticks are about $6 a pair, and they last maybe 1 practice & 1 gig.

Dont say that loudly ! Dont know how things goes in US, but here in Poland, its VERY hard to find a drummer ... Mostly because beginners finishes their career on djembe, and are scared of no place to put it, no room for practise, no money to buy it (even tough you can buy used one paying similiar money like for guitar).

About expensive hobbies - anyone mentioned car collecting ?

Skydiving is considerably more expensive than my bass hobby. After $3500 in certification lessons, you'll end up spending another $3500 renting gear (even after certification, it's usually unreasonable to buy gear until you're quite proficient and work your way down to a proper canopy size), and then another $5000 when you finally buy your own gear. Of course, you also shell out an annual certification fee and at least $25 per jump every time you want to go.

Also, drinking at the bar is considerably more expensive than my bass hobby.

Wow thats a spread. Mine are 9, 7 and 1. The younger are both girls.

Oh yeah, Tattoos, Thats another one of my expensive hobbies although I only have 1. It starts at my wrist and ends at my shoulder though.

I've got $2500 dollars worth of engine parts waiting to be installed. I pick up a new bed on Monday ($400) and will be getting it painted soon ($2000)

Yeah but I do tend to auction off my super expensive stuff from time to time.

I love wine and actually went to school for it but when a bottle of wine is worth roughly what my mortgage payment is..... It's time for it to go.;)

Funny enough, in March I brought a very expensive bottle to drink with the Fodera guys in Brooklin and I ended up ordering a custom bass. Double whammy!:p
