Hofner-(not just Beatle Basses)-Group Part 2

Yes. Thanks. Exactly like the Tom Peterson except in Silver Burst. Hofner Custom Shop #1 of 1. Made in Germany 2007.
I bought it from the original owner several years ago. The 3rd pickup gives it a fuller tone. Plus there’s volume and tone controls rather than the typical volume volume. Makes for more easy tone adjustments.
So I imagine there's a volume and a tone control with the 3 switches being on/off for the pickups?
I've been thinking of adding a third pickup to a Dynacord Thin Body Bass with a Höfner blade pickup at bridge position.
The idea is to add a Höfner toaster in Cavern position an make it 3 volume, 1 tone, 5 way switch.

But changing the bridge pickup and wiring on EB3 copy on the right is the first thing I'll be doing.

My Pickups, Switches & Dials:
- Treble On (1st switch up - Off position) = Neck Pickup On
- Bass On (middle switch up - Off position) = Bridge Pickup On
- Rhythm / Solo (3rd switch up - Solo position) = Middle Pickup On
- Dials are for Volume & Tone even though they are both marked Volume.

Thanks! I'm not sure yet about the Höfner toaster. It's "- single coil & - ca. 6,5kΩ" which is close to the Crucianelli toaster humbucker (6,8kΩ). I've only played the Cavern with Diamond pickups and tried an ignition Club with staples. There's some difference between those, but not a lot.
I could also consider a Retrovibe Replacement Hot ’69 Rickenbacker® Style Toaster® Humbucker Pickup.
Individual Coil DC Resistance: 6 K Ohm, Series DC Resistance: 12 K Ohm.
It'll be closer to the blade bridge pickup DC Resistance ( ± 10,7KOhm) in series.
Or a single Retrovibe Replacement Rickenbacker® HiGain® Style Neck Pickup in 12K
With this it can be switched to single bridge to single neck in series.
Still some things to consider.

I don't know enough about pickups and compatiblity to make a recommendation. I would most likely add a third to match what's already there. Or better still, consult a luthier who knows electronics.

I agree that a Crucianelli toaster bass humbucker (Vox part number 09-1701-0) is probably the best combination.
The thing is that they are almost not for sale.
Another option might be the Allparts mini humbucker that's on the Ibanez now.

Yeah, I usually order from Thomann and I'm in Canada. They can get things to me as fast, and sometimes faster, than L&M, which is Canada's national music store.
After reading through the entire threads 1 + 2 it’s time for me to become a member of this club by posting a pic of my new, first ever Höfner. It’s a 2022 lefty Ignition BB, since the pic I changed the strings to Höfner flats (the expensive version, and yes, they sound great to me), teacups are on the way. I’m a huge Beatles fanatic and after my trip to Liverpool last fall I just had to get me a Höfner. Wasn’t sure what to expect playability and sound wise compared to my other couple of basses but it has just blown me away. It has instantly become my main bass, the one that gets to sit downstairs next to my main guitar, the Epiphone Casino. Just can’t put it down. Can’t wait for rehearsal day.
An update my friend contacted Steve Russell if he knew anything about his. 5 piece necked 500/1 and he gave him an answer which I'll share with you.
In mid '63 Hofner produced a single batch of basses for Selmer London, fitted with a 5 piece neck rather than the 2 or three piece necks on the other 500/1 basses.
It's unclear why this was done either at Selmer's request for this feature for their guitars, but this feature was only on one batch from serial # 133 to # 156 which belongs to my friend. Every bass after that batch was the 2 or 3 piece neck that we have now.

I ordered a German control plate for my CT club. Looking forward to hearing it sound less muddy
My CT doesn't sound muddy. I'm not sure it is the control plat. I have heard, though, that the German plates can improve the tone.

The difference was astounding. Highly recommended.
So what's the difference with a German bridge and a CT bridge? I wanted to put a German bridge on my CT as the saddle frets are toast. I also wanted to put German tuners on it so I could get some TI flats on there. The E string is too big for the CT tuner holes.
