Ok , I'm in. Have a 64 beatle, black icon, HB-1 acoustic bass, and a CT Club bass. Anyone find a hardcase that fits the club bass yet??

Will an Icon Club bass fit in that? I am not sure, but the Icon Club bass seems to have a slightly different shape than a German made one. Or am I wrong?
I've been trying to get a case for my old Senator bass and they now offer one for for the recent Presdent reissue that would fit it. A nice guy at Hofner in Germany personally checked it and confirmed it fits, but asked me to order it through Hofner USA, gave me a guy's em and said he'd take care of me. The guy simply won't respond to my inquiries. I merely want to purchase and item they sell and can't get any response despite multiple e-mails.

63 euro is about $100, I didn' look up shipping but could be an issue. Unless there's a US source...
So, if anybody knows Rob Olson at Hofner USA, tell him I just want to give him some money if he has a second to reply to those e-mail.

Finally got the replacement Icon today (first one had a bad pickup). Huge improvement! Tuned it, found the rest of the out of the box setup nearly perfect to my taste. Intonation, action good. No loose pickups, fit and finish very very nice. Sounds awesome! I love it. I'll try to post a pic soon.

Both are made in Asia. The Icon costs about $300, the CT about $700. The Icon is a true hollow body like the 60s Hofner violin basses, while the CT has a wood block down the center to give a more modern, or solid body, tone. The CT has German made PUs. Some people love the Icon, some the CT. Both will satisfy your British Invasion/Beatle lust.
So the differences are only in the body and the pickups ?
What if I buy an Icon and put original german pickups, will it sound great ?
And btw, i'm a beatles fan but I would like to play blues, rock, jazz, well almost everything with my bass... Should I get the Icon or the CT ?

Icon PUPs are smaller than the German "staple-top" ones, so you'd wind up having to cut the body. I havent played the Contemporary, but comment on TB say that it has more punch because of the center block. However, I've seem Paul play live twice since 2009 and his bass sound is about the best I've heard anywhere-- very punchy yet deep. EQ makes a big difference.
Hold a Contemporary and and Icon side by side and the differences are obvious: more than just the pickups (the Icon pickups do a good job, btw, IMO I would not change them) the Contemporary is built to a higher standard overall. The CT has binding on the neck and the neck itself is built differently, more authentic to the German version. When I compared the 2 (at a guitar show) I didn't plug them in...I was not really in the market at the time...but the CT definitely had a higher quality feel to it. Question is: is the perception of quality worth roughly 2X the cost? That's a question everyone considering a Hofner/Asia must decide for themselves.
See my above post. Also, to further complicate things, Asian Hofners are also available in the Club model, which probably lends itself better to other types of music, IMO, than the standard violin bass. At least in image. And...they are available in both CT & Icon versions as well...
