Hofner outselling Fender

Meh. In all my years of seeing bassists ANYWHERE, aside from the Beatles, I can probably count on one hand the number of Hofners I've seen.
Hofner was the last name of a high school classmate of mine. He always seemed to walk around in a fog, and his socks never matched.

I don’t doubt Reverb’s honesty, but this little factoid is merely a single point of view. No one can say conclusively that what happens on Reverb is precisely what’s happening in the market as a whole. I can say for certain that it’s been decades since I saw anyone playing a Hofner.
The thread was only focused on Reverb and was not meant to attest to sales in general. Nonetheless since this has come up a few time folks should check out Thomann. They sell a lot of instruments and Hofner is a top seller. Also, I see lots of folks using Hofners.
Lies, damned lies, and statistics. A single Hofner bass model is currently selling more than all but one other single Fender / Squier model. But the Fender/Squiers otherwise dominate the list; in terms of actual guitars being moved the Fender / Squier cabal is probably doing 20 times the traffic as Hofner, conservatively.
Like Reverb, Thomann is a major retailer of musical equipment. Again, what they sell is their point-of-view and is not necessarily indicative of the market as a whole. Since Thomann and Hofner are both German companies it isn’t surprising they do a lot of business together. All I’m inferring with what I’m saying is that Hofner isn’t as much of a factor in the market as a whole as what you apparently do.
Hofner is not outselling Fender, over the past 90 days the Hofner Ignition Pro Violin bass is the second most popular on Reverb. To say the Hofner is outselling Fender, you would have to add all of the Fender basses that have been sold and all of the Hofner basses that were sold. Of course, we don't have that data. So all we can really conclude is that the Hofner Ignition Pro Violin bass has sold well over the past 90 days, on Reverb. "Get Back" most likely is the reason.

As much as I like Paul McCartney, and I even like "When I'm Sixty-Four" and "Ob-La-Di, Ob-La'Da" etc, I wouldn't dream of buying a Hofner or a Rickenbacker.
Of course, there is a very good reason, so...
I simply don't like either one and have what I consider better basses!
(Seriously, I like the way both of them look...these are incredible...but I don't enjoy playing either bass.)

That would be beyond obvious; I was just curious as to what the significance of this pure data might be. I would guess that this trend would not be continuing past the beginning of the new year.
