I was under the impression that Antigua actually started out as a grey-burst-like finish, like Jio said, and they turn that greenish color over time, much in the way old pelham blue instruments turn that fantastic shade of green.

tis' possible - but even your 'before' example looks better than the newer 'grey' version. It just looks better when it's a more tobacco brown/black burst than the paler ghost-looking grey version. IMHO of course

More or less I guess, this is a more yellowed version than the pic in the book. It's a crappy shot of it, but it'll show the contrast. I realize Antiqua is not for everyone, but with all the different shades and versions, I feel some are better than others if you like the look. As in, I was disappointed by the reissue after seeing the late 60's versions. I'd do a custom bass in Antiqua if I could land this version successfully.
