Hot girls

Looking back now I realize I was chased by girls from my teens thru my late 20's but was either too oblivious to see it or I had my head buried under a hood somewhere, swapping cams and carburetors. While my friends were chasing skirts I was chasing a lower et slip at the track.

Fast forward to 49 and I still get hit on occasionally. Nice gesture, but I'm happily married..... and still swapping cams & carbs looking for that extra tenth of a second.
Are we related? I'm still in my 20s though.

Played a gig recently and noticed this rather attractive girl half my age, making tremendous eye contact with me the entire first set. During the break, on my way to the mens room, she walked up to me and said 'So, your with the band?' My wife, walking behind me, didnt miss a beat and said 'Yeah, and he's with me.' Didnt even give me time to bask in the moment or anything.

I think that the appeal has to be something with the "status" of playing in a band that people are digging. I played a wedding reception with a country band and since we all have pretty decent stage presence I was getting my share of winks and attention while onstage and off...too bad that we had to load up and take off ASAP and I was too busy helping load the trailer, but honestly I'm a bit wary of starting any kind of relationship with someone who hits on the band at a gig (I've seen that go bad with lots of bandmates who's significant others can't handle the attention that they get onstage once they're in a relationship).

Regarding the "he's just the bass player" thing, my guess is that most audience members either don't know the difference between guitar and bass or don't care...but let's keep the bass player hate going anyway so that we don't get an influx of guitar players and lose our leveraged position as a hard-to-find species of bandmate!
