Hot! Hot! Hot!

Still going to be unusually hot this afternoon, but at least it won't be so hot our air conditioning can't keep up. Yesterday was something else... we had to set it for 70* to keep it at 75*. (I really don't do well in heat anymore)
All kinds of weird things happen to people when it gets that hot. I don't know how people lived in places like Kuwait before air conditioning. Mostly they didn't, probably.

Revised forecast for today takes us out of triple digits to a relatively reasonable expected high of 98* F. That's 36.7* for you Celsius people. That's about where we were yesterday.

A this point I'm extremely worried about drought and fires but so far we have no guidance about water conservation from the county, that I've read about. Going to be interesting moving forward.

We have been watering the garden far more than we usually do this time of year. This is late August weather, only hotter.
I have quite a few plants in containers that are needing daily watering right now. Some are part of a little herb garden and some are just decorative. Fortunately the restrictions never go down to the level of forbidding watering plants in pots. It's usually about sprinkler system usage. I could probably let the petunias die but that seems like such a small amount of water compared to what everyone around here is putting on their lawns.

I can get away with watering every other day for some of them when it's not triple digits, but they will wilt if I wait too long.

It's crazy that we think it feels normal, and it's still well above normal. By comparison, it's fantastic. I got on the bed last night and the bed itself was hot. It was a bizarre feeling.

The wife and I were laughing last night how we're excited for it to cool off to the 80's today.
I took the dog outside this morning and had to put on a coat. It's only 68 right now. Brrrrrrrr. :D

It's 90+ here in Western NY with the humidity near 50% and I hate it.

Looking forward to snow at this point.
I do NOT miss the heat and humidity that I grew up with in Ohio. No A/C in our house there, either. I also don't miss the cold. Being a climate wimp is awesome!

Except when it isn't.

PA boy here. We didn't have AC either. You just hunkered down and found someplace to cool off. My grandma would fill buckets and whatever else she could find outside that would hold water for us to sit in or dump on ourselves. Then there was the option to run across the street to the lake.
I found myself reflecting on that childhood more than a few times in recent days. Here I was belly aching about being hot because the AC wasn't keeping up. It helped to put me in my place and remember what I came from.
I can still remember the first time we got a vehicle with AC in it. It was after we moved to CA. I was sure Robin Leach was going to show up to interview my parents. We were living large. :D
