Wouldn't that be what all straplocks do? I have DeMarzio straplocks, I don't think they'd be considered cheap straplocks. And I'm comparing to a DeMarzio regular strap.

DiMarzio straploks? Never even HEARD of them, so i guess that answers that.

Your new pic is freaky. What I mean is, you don't look at all like I was picturing you from your old avatar. It's weird how you can build a certain image of a person in your mind when you lack details, and it can be so wrong.

I have played for almost twenty years and have found that the higher I wear my bass, the better i play. When I have my right hand arched over the strings, my speed and attack increase greatly. The biggest problem I have faced with the bass worn high is that as I have gotten older, I have had problems with my right hand going numb. Some sort of nerve pinched I guess. Imagine playing the last half of Johnny B. Goode at 150mph with numb fingers.....it ain't good! As a result, I have lowered my bass for the past 4-5 years and no longer have the numbness problem.
Anyone else experienced this numb finger/hand thing?? Some people may attribute this to not playing enough, but I play at least 3 nights a week and practice at least once a day.

I think CrawlingEye Is talking about some kind of a locking strap. I have seen a few of these but I don't know if DiMarzio makes one or not. BTW CrawlingEye, I think Oysterman made his correction because he felt your correction was unnecessary, and somewhat rude.
Heh I used to play my bass down to my freaking thighs when I first started (About a 16 months ago) And after I started deciding that I wanted to do more then follow the guitar I raised it up a little to about waist length, then it went back down because I started to play with a pick at times. After I got sick of a pick I raised it up to my stomech. Sure it looks really weird to see a goth whereing his bass up high in a prog-new metal band, but hell, I needed it higher to play beter and more comfterably. It is all a mater of how it feels to you. But anyways I think I'm gonna go to bed, night night.
On the polls I selected 'balls' but I play it slightly higher than that. I find that if the bass is to high my strumming hand gets tired out really quickly, but if the bass is to low then my fretting hand starts to feel pain.
Angus, I think that CE is talking about this kind of Straplock.

Me? I wear it at about...groin height I suppose (pups are right over that region) when I'm playing. When I'm plunking along on some higher frets, I wear it at about waist level for better access. I think that's pretty normal.

hey, don't feel too bad, ken smith was a pecker to me too, as usual. i picked up the 7-string he had there to play, and he acted like "what do i think i'm doing with that"
i've been playing 7's longer than he's made them and i own more 7+ strings than he's made. i guess he's just like that unless you "look" the part, whatever that means.
