How low do you wear your bass?

The same height as in the sitting position...

Yes, yes, yes. For some reason people often ignore the simple fact that we spend much of our rehearsal time sitting down and much of our gigging time standing up. Since muscles get used differently depending on the height at which you play your bass, it makes a heck of a lot of sense to adjust your strap so that your playing position doesn't change whether or not you are sitting or standing...

I agree. But that's also the reason why I practice standing up when playing rock, and sitting down for something more technical like jazz. I change the length of the strap according to the style of music, as I find it quite uncomfortable to play, say, Red Hot Chili Pepper wearing the bass like Jaco (and the other way around).

I hang my bass low.
So it covers my crotch.

There must be some psychological issue behind that. :)

But serious, I like to hang it low so I can much more easily go from playing at the bridge to playing at the neck.
Less stress on my elbow, less elbow movement.

I feel claustrophobic hanging my bass at belly height or even touching my chest.

Mine is about from my belly button to the middle of my thigh...Dont know about inches....

Where is yours?

Mine is high which gives me no problem in moving around the fretboard and I have a good angle on my left wrist -it's relax, no strain ( i would like keep playing bass for a long time). Even if I have to sit down, it will be on the same position - nothing to adjust.:bassist:

High or low, I guess depending on the music style people play.:)
