I've got things down to a pretty happy compromise between power, portability, tone, and available finances.

For amplification I'm using either an Eden WT-300 or a Yamaha PB-1 preamp into and Aphex 204 into a Mackie 1400i. Occasionally I swap out the PB-1 for the Eden and use the WT-300 as a preamp.

Cabinets are an older Epifani 112T and 210T. I use one or two depending on the size of the gig. I've used the two Epis for everything from small rehearsals to outdoor gigs and so far, so good. The extra wattage of the power amp really helps keep things clean when the volume goes up. Currently I'm wondering if I can get things down to one cabinet with a Schroeder 1210 but I'm pretty pleased with my Epifanis. Most of this was bought used through TB or bassgear. I think the only new purchase was the WT-300 which was my first big amp investment after playing through a Peavey TKO 80 for ten years.

I've tried to avoid posting to this thread , but I suspect it's already well-known that I am a gear-o-holic. Anyhow, I have managed to downsize a bit...

I've got my main gigging rig (db-750 + db410). I've also got an ampeg B-15 mainly for recording/at home practice. Then i've got a cheap fender combo for just messing around with when my other amps aren't handy. Then I've got my mig-50, but I really just use that as a guitar amp.

More than I need......because I can:hiding:

Gig rig (mesa M9-currently with Epi 310), small head taken to gigs as a backup that doesn't get much other use (Shuttle 9), toneful smallish combo for practice on my own and living room jams (Mesa Walkabout-gets the lion's share of my play time), tiny combo for travel (Shuttle 3.0 with 8 inch cab).

I basically have a gig rig and a knock around practice/rehearsal rig. My Fender Bassman 250/115 for the knock around and my Genz Benz rig for the gigs. I usually practice on the Genz Benz.

I really don't need two, but I bought the Bassman a while back, it isn't worth that much now, and I don't care as much if it gets banged around.

Oh I forgot. I have a 40 watt Crate keyboard amp in my office and an Ibanez RD500, so I can practice in my office if I want. Sounds great playing along to Grooveshark.

One (1) lead sled power amp (1150w bridged @ 4ohms)
One (1) micro head (500w @ 4ohms)
One (1) combo amp (150w @ 4ohms with a 4ohm 12" spkr)
One (1) GB neox 212t (4ohm cab)
Two (2) Yamaha SM12H-II wedge monitors (8ohm 1x12 w/horn)

Yes, I like 12's
mix and match as needed

How many: I have 2. I have my Behringer BXL3000 for practice and small gigs and I have a Carvin RL1000 / Ibanez Promethean 4X10 for larger venues.

Why: BXL3000 is a little beast and sounds great. Carvin RL1000, got a great deal on a refurbished seriesIII from Carvin and couldn't pass it up. Picked up the Promethean cab off of ebay for 350.00 new in the box (retails for 899.99). Couldn't pass on that either.
