Well, you've got to face it. If you're still hiding your basses from your GF/spouse/whatsoever, it's time for a decision. I suggest to tell her that you love her more than your own live, accept her shoe collection, show her your secret bass collection and tell her, it will never change and kiss her like you never did before. I choose to get divorced. It works too but it's way more expensive.
 
I so far have been successful in reigning myself in to only 3 basses - a 4, a 5, and a fretless. (an electric upright or a 6 string or a fretless 5 does sound awesome but don't get me started...) :)

Currently:
4 string - Mike Dolan build 51 P-bass with Hammond Darkstars
5 string - Peavey TL5 that had the finish stripped at some point in it's life
Fretless - 1979 Ibanez Musician MC-940DS
