The 6 string plays pretty good. I have pro steel strings on there. It has a great tone to it.

Well, you've got to face it. If you're still hiding your basses from your GF/spouse/whatsoever, it's time for a decision. I suggest to tell her that you love her more than your own live, accept her shoe collection, show her your secret bass collection and tell her, it will never change and kiss her like you never did before. I choose to get divorced. It works too but it's way more expensive.

I always thought of myself as a guitarist first, but I own more basses than 87% of you guys. You need to up your game.
I really enjoy playing bass though. Playing lead guitar can actually be pretty stressful. Playing bass is a lot of fun.

I so far have been successful in reigning myself in to only 3 basses - a 4, a 5, and a fretless. (an electric upright or a 6 string or a fretless 5 does sound awesome but don't get me started...) 
Currently:
4 string - Mike Dolan build 51 P-bass with Hammond Darkstars
5 string - Peavey TL5 that had the finish stripped at some point in it's life
