This is my 4th posting in this thread…I had to search my older posts to see where I left off…

Still have the ‘96 L2500. It’s not going anywhere.

Then there’s the “Poor Man’s” version of a Sandberg TM2…I call it my S[qu]andberg.
I don’t think I can modify this bass any more….well, I can but don’t want to…

My Squier VM Jazz V got a Warmoth roasted maple neck earlier this year.

And finally my fretless parts bass.

My official “beater bass” is a 2021 Ibanez TMB100 that I modified with a $15 ceramic MM pickup from Amazon.

I’m thinking about doing a full Warmoth build as the last bass I’ll ever buy. I’m on the fence about doing a straight up Stingray clone or do a P/MM like my TMB…though I’d like it to have the MM in the Stingray sweet spot. When you order a Warmoth body with P/MM routes, they are positioned exactly as my TMB. The only way I think I can get what I want is to order it with only the P route, and then have the MM route done in the correct Stingray position, which would be directly butted up under the P.

Since it is only in thought at this point, I haven’t figured out any logistics on how I can get that done…

In order of preference:
1. Rob Allen MB2 (Perfect!)
2. Palatino Upright (a beater but perfect for what I use it for)
3. Godin Acoustibass (Really good too)
4. Ibanez Mikro (Really good for travel)
5. Godin A4 (Good, but a little shy of high end)
6. Ibanez SRF705 (Beautiful 5'er, but the string spacing is just a tad too close)
7. Bolin 5 (Gorgeous, but a bit of a ski jump fingerboard)

All are fretless

I had 5 basses in December...a Michael Kelly Dragonfly 5, Fender American Pro jazz V, Fender American Pro Precision, Lakland 55-94 and a U.S. made Peavey Cirrus 6 string in Redwood. Recently sold the 2 Fenders but just purchased a Lakland Skyline 55-02 Deluxe in Spalted maple and rosewood fretboard so now down to 4....but a nice 4.

Absolutely love the look of the Yamaha BB, got my eyes on the 734A in the transparent black. Looks so good.

Solid basses BBs, however, I'm probably going to sell mine. It's basically a P bass; the J pup adds a bit of top end but isn't really usable on its own, the output is a fair bit lower than the split coil. The 734A should be better in that being active you could get more output from the J pup and hopefully have a P bass and a J bass in one, which is what I was looking for in a PJ.
