i'm big on covering the most ground with the fewest tools possible. 1 fretted 1 fretless bass, 1 single coil 1 humbucker electric guitar, 1 nylon string 1 steel string acoustic. what else do you really need? barring backups if you're gigging/touring.

yeah, that's fair. i can see the utility. and of course there's nothing wrong with collecting things you like. not knocking anyone with a large collection, just personally it'd probably give me option paralysis having more than a couple. easier to be like, "ok time to play/record bass, here it is" and run with it.
how do you like the portamento, by the way? judging from youtube demos it sounds really good. i almost got one as my fretless, but at the last minute found this btb on ebay for a steal so i had to jump on it. still wonder occasionally what might've been.

I enjoy The sound (not quite an upright bass), being a fretted bass player it requires a bit more concentration to get the notes correct. I got it used a few years ago for $450, the only issue was a few pin holes in the head of the neck and maybe a dent.

Surprisingly, this has not been the case for me. I have 5 currently, but generally the p-bass goes to shows and practice these days, and the roadster gets played at home most consistently. I haven't really been playing my others but maybe I should be...

I owned the ASB140 for a few years...I loved the sound but it was hard for me to play live as the strap setup was ....well, weird. Also the way the nut to bridge positioning was seemed weird to me and I just couldn't get used to it. I sold it but I still look at them from time to time and wonder if I wasn't a bit premature doing that.
