How Many Basses Do You Own (Part 2)

The problem with having lots of basses is deciding which one or two to use on any given night. Then again, it's fun to use different basses. On long road trips my Marcus Miller and '51 P-Bass are usually my choices, sort of the best of both worlds with one active and one passive.

The fretless is just to mess around on and I really only use the other three. I really like the combination of them, they cover a WIDE range of tones. They each also have something about them that sets them apart for me so I'd have a really hard time picking my number one. But if I had a gun to my head and was forced to pick, I'd say the Stingray. Ask me again in an hour, tomorrow, next week, next month, etc. and I may answer differently.

There's a relatively small list of basses that I've been dying to try and there have been quite a few of them in the For Sale forum lately. Unfortunately for me I don't have the money to buy them, so I drool for a bit, wish I could find a way to finance a few of them, and then finally go back to playing the ones I have. But then that reminds me why I like them so much so I stop lamenting what I don't have and am happy with what I *do* have.

1) 1978 Telecaster Bass strung with flats - who needs a 5th string with this monster around?
2) 1984 G & L L-1000, DR Low Riders - ditto on the "OMG" switch + slapability
3) 2007 Fender American Deluxe Precision - bass-boostable as well + bridge PU tightness when needed.

I am not a fan of Jazz-width necks or slim profiles in general. This limits my further choices for quality basses severely. I am always GASing for more instruments and amps...
