I bought a weirdly modern CD player (USB charged) from the thrift shop just to listen to a new album from a local jazz artist. Unfortunately it isn't the best quality, so I may still upgrade.I've been having some discussions about recording for the purposes of providing merchandise. Five out of five bandmates, when asked, said they have no way to listen to a CD. My sense is maybe that's true for most of us.
My husband still has a CD slot in his car, but that's the only way I'd be able to listen if I really wanted to.
How about you? Would you be able to listen to a CD if you bought it from a band you liked? Or would it just be a mercy-purchase for support, that you'd never be able to hear (I do lots of those).
No IKEA, here. Custom cabinets from a local place. The stereo stand I got from Rogersound Lab in Santa Monica when I lived in L.A. in the '80s. All the stereo components I bought while in L.A.IKEA?
What's in a Naim, anyway?I have a Naim CDS2 player.
I haven't used it for a couple of years, though.
A long-time friend of mine has a fully operational wire recorder, maybe two.Yes. I also have a turntable, a cassette deck, and an 8-track player (though it needs a new belt). Somewhere in the basement I have a reel-to-reel, and an old Victor RCA turntable that only plays 45s. Oh, and a few wind-up phonographs for 78s. Oh, and a DAT deck that needs work. What I don’t have is a wire recorder.
