Every 4 I've owned has had a Hipshot Bass Extender (D-Tuner) - great tool, very useful. Comes in handy, and gets a lot of use!

I have it on three basses - Fender MIM Precision, Tobias Growler, custom Lakland 55-94 fretless (34", high C). Pretty handy tool.

Just pulled the trigger on a de-tuner for my 6-string Dingwall. I've been manually tuning my low B down to A more and more often recently, so I guess it was only a matter of time.

That multi-lever (detuning multiple strings at once) is pretty clever. Looks like it would be easy to offer as an upgrade kit. (All it is is linked levers & that part is pretty easy to swap out IIRC.)

I use them. I still have a Ken Smith 4 string, BT Custom that I bought new in 1985. I put a HipShot on it then. I even had to file down the "thumb tab" on the lever so it would clear the volute on the back of the Ken Smith neck.

I also have one on my Mike Lull MV4 and my Fender Tony Franklin (came with).

I can't imagine ever having a 4 string bass without one of these. The only (incredibly minor) thing I'd change about them is to require a little *more* force to tune a string. They're noticably easier to tune than the rest of the Fender tuners and I'm forever over-tweaking the E string hipshot tuner becasue it turns so easily in comparison. Either that, or Fender should make their tuners easier to turn - but honestly I like the feel of it being a little harder to turn.

The Hipshots are excellent but they should turn with the same force or ratio as the Fender\Schaller tuner. They're too touchy. But having that low d is a good thing eh?

I finally put one on my main 4-stringer. What took me so long?!! I love it! Now I just have to save up and put them on my others.

I play in church and we do a lot of hymns. Many are in the key of Eb or D. It's very useful having the low D for these.

I've always wanted to try one, but I've never made the purchase. Honestly, I can only think of a couple tunes where it would come in handy for me. Usually, when I consider spending the cash for one, something more shiney catches my attention (and cash).

There's just one song I play where I need the bottom D. I have thought about getting a D-tuner just for that, but haven't got round to it yet.

I have 1, so it is on my main bass for giging, but am thing of getting another so I can have one one my back up. I love it, but since I own 16 basses, seems nuts to put one on all of them.
