This is what I see if I put you on ignore:

In bright pinkish red no less. I don't have to click on it but you're there, flailing your arms about like a mad man.

In this thread that happens, but in other threads you never see the post unless you click to see what you're ignoring.
I have one person on ignore. I can tell when they post in a thread as I'll see an option to show ignored content at the bottom of the page. As long as I don't click that, the post never shows and any responses to it don't show either.

No, the forum is well moderated and I see the ignore feature as a useless addition. It is often used as a tool to get the last word in petty internet arguments. There are at least a couple members who throw somebody on ignore so commonly that I don't think they realize the issue might lie with them.

Yah but you're still being informed of content that you've opted to ignore. It's not a big deal but it's not really an ignore option. It's more of a hiding option.

Sometimes I have wanted react and ignore somone. I am usually happy that i didn't because I may end up learning about someone from their posts here.
There are a few folks here that I am very happy that I didn't react on impulse and ignore them. I may not always agree with them but I enjoy their posts and I understand a little more about their point of view and I am glad for that.

I know it's trivial to feel like this, but I would feel like a coward if I had to ignore someone to enjoy a forum this civilized. There really aren't many nasty people on TB. Even if they are a little nasty I just chock it up to being bass players. Ignoring a bass player is kind of like pointing a flashlight at the sun to punish the gods. We don't even notice.
-because bass players are basically sun-gods.
:D

I prefer knowing what they're posting. Not because I want to know what they post, but to correct any incorrect information they're putting out.
One in particular needed to be corrected repeatedly & finally stopped commenting with their incorrect opinion.

Out of curiosity, what caused you to change your position? You used to often mention that you were “ignoring” people.

I haven’t encountered too many extreme blowhards on here. Bass players are cool people for the most part. Most of the annoying ones are on here for just that. Sometimes I don’t even think they play bass. Trolling more likely. They pretty much fade away after six months or so, or get banned. So I ignore no one. I definitely voluntarily ignore certain threads I know certain people lurk in and I’ve got no time to read their posts. it’s all good though TB has something for everyone.
