My profile says 4, but there's only 1 I actually remember clicking "ignore" on. I think they others may be spambots. All are now banned (not my doing, from long before I was a mod). If I recall there was some debate going on in OT where I was actually firmly grounded in the subject and on the evidence, but the guy just insisted on flaming out over it and wouldn't give it up. Otherwise I just ignore people the old-fashioned way...

Two.

One was very recent. I started getting nasty PMs after a comment I made out in the open. The comment was not even offensive but the guy took it wrong. I tried my best to explain but he got more and more angry as the conversation went on. So I finally said that it would be best if we don't cross paths moving forward and clicked "ignore".

The other I ignored quite a while back. He has a trollong avatar of a political nature and I figured he and I would knock heads at some point.

I'm sitting at 22 right now, but that's hardly realistic.
We had a bunch of spam accounts join a year or 2 back and I ignored and reported every one I saw.

I guess at 22 stopped reading TB for a few days.

Nobody.

Ever.

I understand why the ignore system is set up the way it is but it makes it useless for me. It's like someone on the other side of the room is yelling at you and waiving his arms around and you can put him on mute but you still see him waiving his arms around.

This.

I’ve never utilized the ignore feature for a variety of reasons. In addition to the above, I feel like there are better ways to deal with someone who is a constant problem. Did I say better? I meant more fun... ;)

This is what I see if I put you on ignore:

In bright pinkish red no less. I don't have to click on it but you're there, flailing your arms about like a mad man.

none. i like hearing everyone's POV. i've had 'incidents' with others, but so what?! i'm quite sure some of my responses have gotten me "ignored" by others, but i like to know what others are thinking even if it's impossible that we'd agree on much.

it's the percieved 'attitude' which seems to prompt ignorers and their ignorees. we look at the words on posts/threads and seem to think we can make objective judgements about the poster when actually we're just guessing...at that moment, whether or not we are actually up to the task of 'best guess' ourselves.

it doesn't bother me at all to think/know i'm being ignored --- i'm not delicate. but it would bother me to ignore someone else --- i'm too 'curious'.
