How many people here wear glasses?

I lost my glasses in 8th grade. I never got a new pair, so I either didn't need them, or I've become used to things being blurry.

I've got some. Been wearing them for 10 years, or so, I guess. Just for distance/driving. I wear them in classes that have Power Point in them, or a lot of notes on the board, since I usually sit at the back.

I'm probably due for some stronger ones. If I have to wear glasses full time, I'll get contacts.

I started wearing them when I was about 8 adn wore them until I got contacts when I was 18. Wore the contacts almost exclusively until i was in my mid 30's, then wore them less and less over the next few years. From my mid 30's until I was 39 I never wore the contacts at all and used the glasses exclusively. Then I had LASIK surgery and have been glasses-free for the last 5 years and have loved every 20-15 second of it.

However, my arms are getting noticeably shorter every year. I'm sure I'll need reading glasses in the near future but I can deal with that. It's still nice not needing them most of the time.

I used to have a lazy eye too, so I had to wear a patch at one point. Argg.

Yep. Wish I could wear contacts, but my allergies won't let me; too many itchy eyes being rubbed for contacts to work well... I tried for a while but just didn't work. So glasses it is.

46 will be 47 in a couple of weeks (God willing) and just started wearing glasses for the first time all the time last month.

Just turned 45 last oct. and never needed them. parents, brother, and sister all wear or need glasses. I was even told I had better than 20/20. The doctor referred to it as pilots vision. this was back in the late 80's Now print that I use to be able to see 10 feet in front of me is just a blur....no matter how hard i try to focus...and the harder I try my eyes start to hurt......I am making an eye appointment on monday.

My left eye is shortsighted, my right is 100% ok, which makes for terrible headaches once in a while.

The eye doctor thought I needed glasses. But I was all like "Nut uh *****, you ain't be makin' me wear those!". I was a really hardcore 8 year old.

Legally blind, have had incredibly thick glasses since I was a toddler. Can't drive, make out faces after a few feet, read the overhead menu at McDonalds, etc.

I have my LASIK appointment at the end of the month. I am correcting for very severe nearsightedness. My pre-op visit is to refine a "blended vision" prescription so that I have 20-20 (or nearly) in one eye and up close-reading in the next eye.
I am 48 so I would just be getting glasses again & again. I hate the damn things now.

Did you have a blended correction or was it 20-15 for both?
